Mammograms
A mammogram is an x-ray picture of the breast and is taken to look for breast cancer in women who show no signs or symptoms of the disease. Tumors that cannot be felt are found using a mammogram x-ray. Both men and women can get a mammogram and the most beneficial age for one is around the age of 40-74. A mammogram is taken yearly.
Pap Smears
A pap smear is taken to figure out if there are any problems with a girl's cervix. Pap smears can detect infections or other problems such as abnormal cells that could develop into cancer. Women in their 20's should start to get pap smears and get them every 3 years.
Testicular Exam
An examination of the testicles to look for lumps or bumps for testicular cancer. Men between the age 15-35 most commonly get it. An exam is needed monthly.
Prostate Exam
An exam that looks for prostate cancer in men ages 40-70. Men should get one every four years.
