AEA Strongsville Weekly Update
Week of February 25, 2020
This has been a challenging week for many of us connected to the Albert Einstein Academy family. The passing of our Superintendent, Dr. Bruce Thomas was unexpected and brings a cloud of sadness to our experiences together. I know I speak for us all that our condolences and thoughts go to his family. During this time, our community has come together to express thoughts and support together. Ms. Willis our school counselor and myself are available as resources for anyone who needs a moment to process.
The death of an influential leader is difficult and challenging. Experiencing this loss may cause children to process grief. If your family has experienced a death or similar loss recently, the passing of Dr. Thomas may bring up feelings about that loss. While this may be something that many people experience, we want to provide assistance if needed. We as a school would like to encourage you to discuss your child's/children's thoughts and feelings as they work through them. Please also consider keeping an eye on and discussing your children’s communications (social media, e-mail, text messaging, etc) to further assess what they may need.
The entire staff of Albert Einstein Academy are dedicated in creating an emotionally safe space for all of our students. If you feel your children need to speak with someone, or you yourself find it necessary please contact the school at 440-471-4982 x1700 or by replying to this email.
We are committed to continuing the mission and vision of Albert Einstein Academy. A school district founded on the vision of creating an environment of uniqueness and belonging. We truly believe in our guiding principles and are continuing to create this environment every day in every classroom.
Thank you,
