Class Pictures - Uniforms required
Class pictures will take place on Tuesday, February 6. For these pictures, we ask that students are in school uniforms, not a specific class shirt or spirit wear. If you would like to order a class picture online through Strawbridge, please visit strawbridge.net and enter the following code FM410266. You can also send in cash or check made payable to Strawbridge Studios Inc in the envelope provided. If paying with cash, the exact amount should be put in the Strawbridge envelope provided as we do not collect and receipt funds. We provide the envelopes directly to them sealed.
SMART Watches and Cell Phones
We are seeing an increasing number of students with SMART watches and cell phones at school. Students are not allowed to make phone calls, send text messages and/or emails from these devices while at school. We understand that these devices are a direct line of communication between home and school and are an added safety measure for our families to track the location of their child(ren). We also realize that some students need these devices to contact parents after school when home alone where a landline is not present. These are acceptable uses. Therefore, we allow cell phones to be in bookbags in the off position until after school and SMART watches to be worn by students. However, some students are calling parents to chat at recess, text other students and/or share group texts that occurred outside of school with others. These uses are not appropriate. If a student utilizes their device for these purposes they will be collected and a parent will be asked to pick up the device from the office. We make every effort to have reasonable guidelines for the safety of all students.
Zest Dental
Next Friday, February 9, Zest Dental will be presenting Dental Health to all students. We are thankful for our community partnerships.
On that note, if you (or your business) are interested in volunteering at Coosa based on your occupation, talents, or special interests, please complete the three questions survey, and we will seek opportunities for you to volunteer at Coosa Volunteer Survey Link.
SIC Survey
All students received the School Improvement Council's annual survey today. We would love to receive feedback from all of our families. When completing the survey, we ask that you consider your child’s current experience at school (2023-2024 school year). Feel free to to utilize the comment sections and/ or provide additional comments on an added piece of paper, if preferred. We ask that all surveys be returned sealed in the envelope provided by February 15, 2024 to ensure your responses remain confidential.

BCSD Calendar Input
As a friendly reminder, the district is soliciting public input on upcoming academic calendar options for both the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years until Sunday, February 4, 2024.
As noted in their previous message, this is the first time that two years’ worth of calendars will be released, instead of just one, so families, educators, and the community can plan ahead accordingly.
Another first is the use of the engagement platform BCSDConnected to gather community input. In response to some feedback received regarding this new platform, we are providing additional instructions to clarify different aspects of the software. (Instructions can be found under the “Documents” tab on the page.)
All Beaufort County citizens, especially parents, educators, and staff, are encouraged to submit their input: https://connectbeaufortschools.org/academic-calendar-input.
January Student of the Month
The January Students of the Month were recognized this week. These students were nominated by their teachers/peers for the character trait of perseverance.
100th Day of School
Tuesday marked the 100th day of school for Beaufort County School District, and we loved seeing the various ways our students and teachers marked the occasion!
Child Find
It’s almost time for the 2024-2025 Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration. Mark your calendars: February 26th – March 1! Please contact Nichelle Tyson at 843-322-6147 to schedule a screening if you have a child who will be four years of age on or before September 1, 2024. If your child will be five years of age, registration is held during this time as well.
