We are extremely excited to capture the joy of senior portraits for the Class of 2021! With the challenges raised by COVID-19, Lifetouch/Prestige Portraits has developed policies, photographer training and procedures for the safety of our employees, Class of 2021 seniors and our school community partners. The first session of Class of 2021 senior portraits will be held at Montgomery Blair High School on October 28, November 11, November 14, November 18, December 2 and December 9.


Please note that the no-charge, yearbook-only sitting option is not available to select as a sitting on the website. If the no charge, 2-pose yearbook option is the desired sitting level you should select the Basic sitting level online when you confirm but not pay the sitting fee. You can alert the team when you arrive for their appointment that you just want the no-charge yearbook sitting.

Science Courses Requirement for Graduation:

Seniors -Class of 2021

While MCPS upholds the expectation that students complete a minimum of three Next Generation Science Standards, (NGSS) aligned science courses in order to meet their graduation requirement, current seniors who have completed three science courses but have not met the three NGSS-aligned requirements will not be required to take an additional fourth science course.


Juniors - Class of 2022

The graduating class 2022 are expected to comply with Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) for Science and take three NGSS courses. Being intentional, the science curriculum staff developed NGSS-aligned courses highlighting the essential science dimensions to prepare students for college and career. Courses were phased in to ensure that students met the expectations; this was communicated with schools and community stakeholders. With equity being a core MCPS value, all students must be provided equitable access to rigorous NGSS aligned courses and resources.

MAP Testing

The MAP Student Progress Report will be posted in ParentVue for all students who took MAP Growth Reading (Grades 3-12), and MAP Growth Mathematics (Grades 3 - 12).


The Student Progress Report provides parents/guardians information about how their child is performing academically in both mathematics and reading. For a student who has taken the test before, the overall progress from past administrations to the most recent administration is shown, as well as projected growth on future testing. A sample Student Progress Report can be found here.


Our final MAP makeup session will take place on Wednesday, October 14. Details will be sent directly to students via their MCPS email and posted on our school website.

Advanced Placement Exams:

Students! Register for AP Exams now through November 6; you can also apply for a waiver for the $95 test fee; contact Ms. Blaha if you have any questions.

Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) is a collaborative program among Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College, and the Universities at Shady Grove that provides a seamless and supportive pathway to college completion.



The ACES program seeks to serve students who identify with any of the following categories:

  • First in their family to graduate from a college or university in the United States

Blair's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resources Website:

Blair has launched a new diversity, equity, and inclusion instructional resources website: Blazing Toward Equity (https://sites.google.com/mcpsmd.net/blazing-toward-equity-mbhs). This one-stop-shop serves as a clearinghouse that provides culturally responsive curricula; guidance for equitable remote learning practices; tools for talking about race; as well as direction for teachers seeking additional professional development around these issues. This latest effort is part of Blair's broader diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives that work in tandem with the MCPS Equity and Achievement Framework, and support the racial justice priorities of the MCPS Equity Initiatives Unit.


October Race and Equity Social-Emotional Learning Lesson Activities

Early October marked the launch of this year's first school-wide, coordinated efforts to address issues of equity and inclusion in the classroom. The lessons, delivered through the school's Innovation Periods, featured testimonies and dialogue around the personal triumphs our students have experienced in the midst of our "dual pandemics" (COVID/quarantining and racism). We will continue to facilitate similar opportunities to dialogue around these issues throughout the school year.

Student Attendance:

It is our expectation that all students will attend the live class sessions every day. Parents / guardians should send Ms. Roxanne Fus, an email (Roxanne_F_Fus@mcpsmd.org) with the reason for their child's absence, include date of absence, student ID # and a daytime phone number to verify the absence.

School Meals are Free for All Students:

Montgomery County Public Schools is providing curbside meal service at Blair. Breakfast and lunch meals will be provided from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (double meals), no meal service on Thursday, and triple meal service on Fridays, to help address food insecurity for MCPS students over the weekend.



We ask that you wear a facemask and practice physical/social distancing as you pick up meals. InfoFlow will air two shows a week on Monday and Thursday for the remainder of the semester. All shows will also be uploaded to our website. Student Government Association News:

SGA has formed a number of committees so far this year. Our Student Advocacy committee has established a Virtual Learning Hotline students can text to with problems they see in teaching and learning, and they are developing a large student survey on various aspects of distance education. Our Student Wellness committee has been working with counseling on the upcoming Mental Health Awareness Spirit Week October 5th-9th and will soon host yoga and breathing sessions for students before and after school. Another committee is working on an initiative involving students and teachers together to design content across the curriculum that is highly relevant to our society right now. We’re also working on a podcast, Blair mobile app, and various student dialogues.

Student Engagement Website Features Information on Leadership, Service, and Extracurricular Activities:

MCPS students can engage and access several different experiences through leadership, service, and extracurricular activities. Students are encouraged to participate at the school level. The new student engagement website includes information for additional learning experiences, which are often student-led. Be sure to check www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/student-engagement/ frequently as content and information will be updated throughout the school year.

Blair Athletics: FALL SPORTS WINDING DOWN and WINTER SPORTS ABOUT TO START!

Happy October Blazer community! We are four weeks into the fall virtual season and we have approximately 300 students participating in the virtual season, 120 participating in the Leadership program for student-athletes and 85 enrolled in the Strong Minds For Student-Athletes program. There have been numerous guest speakers this fall, both through MCPS Athletics and our own sports programs and topics have included conditioning and reconditioning, finding your leadership, NCAA eligibility and defining your purpose. It has been a good season with one week remaining.


The winter virtual season will begin on October 26. The winter sports include boys basketball, girls basketball, wrestling, poms, indoor track, bocce and swimming and diving. The coaches of these programs will provide skill development, knowledge development, attendance and academic check ins, and conversations around character and student-athlete conditioning. In order to participate, a student-athlete must be registered using the following form: Blair Virtual Winter Sports Registration form. Winter registration is open from October 6 to October 23. The programs start the afternoon of October 26. All Blazer students are eligible to participate in our virtual seasons.


If a student-athlete is going to participate in the virtual winter season, a medical clearance is required in addition to completing the entire registration. The form can be found here: SR-8 Medical Clearance Form. If a student-athlete has a valid physical on file at Blair High School in the Athletics Department from last year’s school year, that is acceptable for the virtual season. If ever we should move into in person conditioning, a valid medical clearance must be submitted.


The medical clearance is considered valid if signed by a medical practitioner within the last calendar year. If a student-athlete needs to submit a medical clearance, it can be uploaded in the registration or emailed to the Athletic Director at Rita_J_Boule@mcpsmd.org. If a student-athlete needs to check their medical clearance or if there are concerns or questions, the Athletic Director should be emailed as well. ONLY the SR-8 from can be used to establish medical clearance.

As you may know, ParentVUE has replaced the Parent Portal, and now that all of our teachers are using Canvas, it's more important than ever to use ParentVUE for information on your child's grades, attendance, and access to your child's myMCPS (Canvas) classroom. ParentVUE provides access to important information such as standardized test scores for your child and much more.


Make sure your child's registration information is correct!

If you did not receive a ParentVUE Activation Code in your letter or the U.S. Mail, we can get one to you easily and help you set up your account. Use the form below to receive an Activation Code.


If you have a ParentVUE account and your contact information is not correct, we can update your information. Sometimes, old email accounts were used in ParentVUE, and the Activation email landed there. Use the Blair ParentVUE form below to update your account.

There are options for updating some of this information yourself in the Online Annual Verification of Enrollment (replacing the yellow information cards of the past).

If your child's account does not include all parents and guardians it needs to, we can add a parent after verifying the contact information with our Counseling department. If you have more than one child, we can help combine the accounts so you can easily toggle between your children's accounts. Use the Blair ParentVUE form below to add another parent or guardian.


How are ParentVUE and myMCPS (Canvas) Classroom linked?

Using ParentVUE, parents can access myMCPS (Canvas) Classroom. Once you have activated your account, here's how to install the app.


We know your inboxes are full! You can use the Synergy Mail inbox in ParentVUE as a place for those emails from your child's teachers sent out through ParentVUE! And you can easily send an email to your child's teachers using Synergy Mail.


Lastly, because we are doing everything virtually, MPCS is sending vital information to parents about Application programs such as CAP & Magnet programs.
