All We Want For Christmas Is Cookies!!
The last day of school in 2022 is THURSDAY December 15th - Let’s show our school staff how much we appreciate all they have done for our students by sending them home for the holidays with a Christmas treat.
This year we will need 50 sets of store bought or homemade cookies, candies, fudges, popcorn sets or other yummies to send each teacher/staff member home with some Holiday Happiness. We ask that each set have at least 2 dozen treats for maximum enjoyment.
Please help show your gratitude by bringing your box, bag, can or basket of SCRUMDIDALIUMPTIOUS goodies to the Middle School Front Office by THURSDAY MORNING, December 15th.
Early delivery is also appreciated if you need to drop off on Wednesday.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Have you heard of the Lago Vista ISD Education Foundation?
We have been around for many years and are a foundation that fundraises to give grants to educators in our district. Those grants fund equipment and supplies for students. Lago Vista ISD students are the direct beneficiaries of all of our efforts.
We are currently looking for community volunteers to help with our Giving Tuesday Campaign. You can learn more about how to help and who we are at our website, https://www.lvisdeftx.com , or by emailing lvisdeftx@gmail.com.

Badgers Ground The Vikings
7th B against Lampasas
The Lady Vikings lost a hard game against Lampasas with a score of 16-8. Lady Vikings might have lost the game but they showed a lot of teamwork tonight and grit. These ladies worked hard and the progress they are making on the court is showing. One of our big playmakers tonight was Eloise Rowland. She scored 5 points for the team and was tough on defense. Harper Phillips worked hard to make plays happen for her team and never gave up. Peyton Byrd had some good drives to the basket. Hannah Koenning and Kennedy Brown rebounded the ball and put their team in position to score. Myah Marquez stole the ball several times from the Lampasas ladies and assisted her team in creating opportunities to score. Sofia Garcia battled down below and had some awesome takeaways from the other team. Other’s that contributed were Marlow Coale, Elle Head, and Melany Cardenas. I’m so proud of these girls and the hard work they put in each week. We have Taylor next week at home, come out and support!
7A against Lampasas
The Lady Vikings lost a tough game last night to Lampasas. They hustled and fought hard, but learned what they need to work on to bounce back next week. We play the Taylor Ducks at home, so please come out and support our ladies for their last basketball game of 2022!
8th B against Lampasas
8B
The Lady Vikings came up only a few points short in last night's game. The score was 21-25 in favor of Lampasas. The first time we played this team the score was 25-4. These Lady Vikings came into play tonight and made a statement! We rattled Lampasas and made several turnovers upsetting them over and over. I can’t say enough about this group of girls and how excited I am for their growth. They were pushed down, hit hard, ran over, called names, and yet they still held their head high and walked away with class. Every single one of these ladies contributed tonight and made an impact. Kailee Kister scored 11 points for the Lady Vikings. Anya Alanis scored 6 points, and Audrey Ferguson scored 4. Sadie Darling had some big rebounds for her team. Laila Burlew and Melissa Soto stole the ball and helped create plays and passes that would lead to a score. Laney Bentley created many turnovers from the other team getting them frustrated and off their game. Contributing last night was Sabryna Holcomb, Ayleen Hernandez, and Ke’Auvia Cox. As always, I am very proud of this group of girls and the toughness they put forth every week. We have Taylor next week at home, come out and support!

Lago Tangles With The Badgers
The LVMS basketball teams hosted the Lampasas Middle School Badgers on Thursday, Dec. 8. The Badgers had size and speed that the Vikings could not match. The Vikings put forth great effort, but could not keep the Badgers out of the paint on defense and could not seem to find open passing lanes on offense.

The game came down to the last 20 seconds with the Vikings having a chance to win it. The outcome did not go our way with the Vikings losing by 4 points. The leading scorer was Bobby Ruth and Jackson Cook. Leading the team in steals were Archer Houston and Bobby Ruth. Leading rebounders were Jackson Cook and Blake Meridith. Hustling all over the court was Benson Hodd. It was a close game and a very physical one but was amazing to watch. Can't wait to rebound next week against Gateway.
The 7th grade B team were down by 12 points at the half and could not make up the difference in the second half. The final score of the game was 10-24. The defensive players of the game were Evan O'Brien with 5 steals and 1 rebound and Drake Rawlins with 7 rebounds. The offensive players of the game were Evan O'Brien with an assist and 2 points and Jude Loucks with 4 points. This loss drops the 7th grade B team record to 0-3 for the season.
The 8th grade B team is not used to trailing in any part of the game, but the Badgers came out strong and went up by 19 points at the half. The Vikings were unable to catch their groove in the second half, and the Badgers continued to pull away. The final score of the game was 17-44. The defensive player of the game was Camron Wright with 10 steals and 4 rebounds. The offensive player of the game was also Camron Wright with 6 points. This loss brings the 8th grade B team's record to 2-1 for the season.

Meet Your Teachers!
Mr. Pieter Duplooy
1) Where are you from originally?
I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa (hence the spelling of my name), but I was raised in Houston.
2) What led you to become a teacher and how long have you been teaching?
I have always loved working with students and was raised around music, which helped me develop a strong passion for it. I put the two together when I decided to choose my career and have enjoyed every minute of it during my 12 years of teaching.
3) Tell us about your family...
Family life is pretty simple… just me and my cat, Ian. My mom lives in Belton. She is close enough to be able to make all of our band concerts. She has not missed one yet since I started band in sixth grade.
4) What are your favorite hobbies?
I enjoy movies, music, traveling, and enjoy cooking at home.
5) What is your favorite part about your job?
I enjoy seeing when students accomplish something they never thought they would be able to do, especially younger, newer students to band. They look up to the older students and question whether they will ever get there, but before they know it, they are sitting in those same seats and performing at the same high level. It is always great to see that look of accomplishment in their eyes.
