#media
Many people describe “Media” as just the internet. To me Media is like a whole different world, is a way to communicate by using the radio, newspapers, and magazines to spread news and new trends. The social network has made it simple for us to know what is actually happening around the world. Not all of us are Media Literate which means we are not all aware about to all the benefits the media has, a big part about being Media Literate is we have to read and learn in order to know about the news it brings to us on the daily basis. Being Media Literate has to do with having the ability to understand about the media and how it is organized, learning the kind of information you can get out of it. The media can be really helpful but we all abuse it at one point from using to getting all the answers to our homework to being on Facebook or Twitter for hours when we can be doing something else that would actually benefit us in life. Yet again the media can help a variety of with their businesses by promoting about it online. I see it as The Media has its pros and cons, I feel like you have to know how to use it correctly reading about it can help u understand it in order for it to help you not harm you. Anything on the Internet can either make u successful or a failure in life because a single “click” can change your life completely.
Around the world
Shows how the media is all over the world.
means to me
the words the describe media to me
united
shows how we all interact with the media
Budweiser commercial
The company Budweiser created an inspirational message in the commercial “A Hero’s Welcome” (February 2, 2014), in hopes to persuade Americans, the author suggests that we welcome our hardworking soldiers with a big hug because they sacrifice their lives every day to fight for our country. The author Budweiser supports their claim, in the commercial, by showing the entire town of Winter Park welcoming home Lt. Chuck Nadd. The author’s purpose was to show the world how soldiers should be welcomed home, so that they can feel extremely appreciated for undertaking a brave job that not many people are eager to do. The author of this exhilarating commercial composes in an inspirational tone, in hopes that other Americans will follow the example the commercial displays.
1984 Theme song
This song "Don't Think They Know" by Chris Brown and Aaliyah would be perfect for a movie version of 1984. He saying that they don’t think about them just like Winston thought that no one knew about his rebellion with Julia. He says don’t let them tell you any different like basically don't give up in what you believe in, that they are going to try to change your mind. He said I don’t think they know the truth, Winston and Julia didn’t think anyone knew what they was doing. Every time they would meet up they would think it was a safe spot and continued with their loving. The whole song basically describes how Winston and Julia felt. How even when they met up with O’brien they didn’t think he knew or anyone else from the government knew about their rebellion and their feelings of love toward each other.
"Don't Think They Know" Chris brown (feat. Aaliyah)
[Chorus: Aaliyah]
I don't think they know the truth
Say they saw (A-A-to the L-I-Y-A-H)
I don't think they know, how could they know
I don't think they know the truth
Say they saw
I don't think they know, how could they know
[Verse 1: Chris Brown]
Don't let them tell you any different
They don't know about us, they don't know about it
I owe it all to you
They don't know about us, they don't know about it
And as much as I messed up, always give me your best love
They don't know about us, they don't know about it
[Bridge:]
Sometimes I wonder what I did to deserve you
They don't know about us, they don't know about it
They gon' talk about it (gon' talk about it)
Gon' try to change your mind about it
Gon' tell you things you don't wanna hear
But we good. (Don't worry 'bout it)
So when they talk about (they talk about it)
Just let 'em know we already got it
Just tell 'em that we gon' work at it, we good (Don't worry 'bout it)
[Chorus: Aaliyah]
I don't think they know the truth
Say they saw
I don't think they know, how could they know
I don't think they know the truth
Say they saw
I don't think they know, how could they know
[Chris Brown]
Don't listen to (How could they know)
What people say (How could they know)
They don't know about (How could they know)
'Bout you and me (How could they know)
[Verse 2: Chris Brown]
At my best she loved me
They don't know about us, they don't know about it
Even though at my worse
They don't know about us, they don't know about it
And I know that it's different, feels like we're best friends
We're connected
They don't know about us, they don't know about it
[Bridge:]
What did I do to deserve you
They don't know about us, they don't know about it
They gon' talk about it (gon' talk about it)
Gon' try to change your mind about it
Gon' tell you things you don't wanna hear
But we good. (Don't worry 'bout it)
So when they talk about (they talk about it)
Just let 'em know we already got it
Just tell 'em that we gon' work at it, we good (Don't worry 'bout it)
[Chorus: Aaliyah]
I don't think they know the truth
Say it ain't so
I don't think they know, how could they know
I don't think they know the truth
Say it ain't so
I don't think they know, how could they know
[Chris Brown]
Don't listen to (How could they know)
What people say (How could they know)
They don't know about (How could they know)
'Bout you and me (How could they know)
[Verse 3: Aaliyah]
How could they know [x5]
Thank you for the autographs
And the cheers over the years
You stood by me, you didn't doubt me
I think you want some more
I do more than sing
I'm model now
Actin' now
Plus I got my own movie now
After all the awards
That they gave me
You stood by me
You didn't play me, you didn't doubt me
Think you want some more
I truly believe that if it wasn't all for you
I don't know what I would do
[Chorus: Aaliyah]
I don't think they know the truth
Say they saw
I don't think they know, how could they know
I don't think they know the truth
Say they saw
I don't think they know, how could they know
[Chris Brown]
Don't listen to (How could they know)
What people say (How could they know)
They don't know about (How could they know)
'Bout you and me (How could they know)
My Reflection
My third block class Media Literacy course with coach Zopf was one of a kind experience. I learned what media really was, the secrets behind it and what the world could be if we don’t do anything about it. On my first entry on the smore I wrote how media has to do with not only the internet but the radio and newspaper as well. It’s a way to spread news and new trends around the world it’s a way of communication. I learned how to write précis (a four sentence summary/analysis) on any type of source whether it was a video, an article or a book. Even though I was at work on the Super Bowl night I went back and wrote a précis on the Budweiser commercial. I realized how during super bowl season authors exaggerate on their commercials just to get more business and catch everyone’s eye so they can consume their product. Coach Zopf taught us about satires and what they are. How most of the news out in the media is a satire meaning it’s not real, we have to pay close attention on the news we read. We read the book 1984; this book is a great example on what our world can become if we don’t do anything about it. This class is definitely unique compared to all the language arts classes I’ve took in all my high school years. It was fun and I can actually say we learned things that actually mean something in our lives, information that we are going to use in the future. I believe that in the future more books should be written that shows other kids the danger of our privacy and updated information. Those books need to be read in this class so everyone has a better understanding of the media, how it works and the danger of using it if you are not careful. I can say this was a GREAT class (not including all the work that was done in here).
