Thanksgiving
History of Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was first celebrated as the Native Americans and Pilgrims sat together and feasted in Plymouth, Massachusetts. It was finally declared a national holiday by President Abraham Lincoln. It started on November 26, 1863. People celebrate this day by coming together with family and feasting. Traditionally, a Thanksgiving meal consists of turkey, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, beans, and many other foods. Many other countries, including Germany, Japan, Canada, and others, also celebrate the holiday Thanksgiving. Though some countries celebrate like America, others host national festivals instead of a feast.
