Total Solar Eclipse
Wentzville School District August 21, 2017
Is my home or work in the path of totality?
What do I need to know?
When do I need to use solar eclipse glasses?
Here is a video about how to safely put on your solar eclipse glasses!
During TOTALITY, you will take off the glasses - if you don't, you won't be able to see anything!
The American Astronomical Society partnered with; the American Academy of Ophthalmology, NASA, the American Academy of Optometry, and the American Optometric Association and wrote a press release on how to view the solar eclipse safely. It can be found here!
Can I take a picture with my cell phone?
Please leave taking pictures of the sun during the partial to the pro's! They have special lenses and filters for their cameras and much more experienced at this than us.
It is possible to damage the camera on a cell phone. Similar to how we need special eclipse glasses to view the sun during the partial eclipse, lenses also need special coverings to protect them.
Please be sure to discuss this with your family and friends to help them be aware!
