Homework Feedback Night
On behalf of Forest Grove and Pacific Grove Unified School District, we would like to express our gratitude to all of the families who responded to our homework survey last month.
To follow up on the survey, we will hold a Homework Feedback Night on Thursday, February 23, from 6-7 p.m in the multi-purpose room.
Our evening will begin with a review of the homework survey. The participation was outstanding as we received 318 responses and numerous helpful comments.
The homework discussion will provide input into the TK-5 homework plan.
Topics will include:
The amount of time that should be spent on homework in each grade level
The extent to which homework will require participation by parents/guardians
Communication regarding homework between school and parents about topics such as homework expectations and how best to help your children
Helping plan time for homework
The extent to which homework will emphasize working on special projects
Principal Buck Roggeman and six teachers will be on hand to facilitate group discussions. We hope you will be able to join us for this important opportunity to provide input into our homework plan.
Celebrating Diversity at Forest Grove
As February is Black History Month, we feel it is an opportune time to celebrate the diversity at Forest Grove.
Teachers will be incorporating messages appreciating all of the cultures that make up the fabric of our community. Principal Buck Roggeman will also be visiting classes and speaking with our students regarding the importance of appreciating the ethnicity that comprises our student population.
Our hope is that our students will understand that unity begins with learning about others and understanding that diversity makes our school a better place to learn.Parent Teacher Conferences

Crystal Apple Award Winner - Jeanie DeTomaso
By now, most of you have heard that our very own second grade teacher Jeanie DeTomaso won the KSBW Crystal Apple Award presented by the Pebble Beach Company for excellence in education.
KSBW anchor Dan Green surprised Ms. D on Janruary 31 by bringing a camera crew and the award.
Ms. D has been a teacher for nearly 30 years, spending most of that time at Forest Grove.
As all of her students can attest, she builds a loving atmosphere of learning in class. Our Forest Grove staff and administration could not be more proud of her.
If you missed the presentation of the Crystal Apple on the news, here is a link, so you can watch it.
