CDS - First Program
The Weekly Word from CDS FP, Jan 20-Jan 24, 2020
Hello First Program Community,
A short and simple message to our FP community this week, wishing you all a safe and happy Lunar New Year!
Next Wednesday the 29th is both Wear-What-you-Will-Wednesday (WWWW), as well as the day we celebrate January birthdays. Moving forward, those two days (birthdays and WWWW) will be separated:
- we will keep the fundraising WWWW on the final Wednesday of each month;
- birthdays will be celebrated on the last Friday of each month on which we do not have House (reminder that we have House every second Friday). Please feel free to see the calendar or the Dates to Know section below.
A new episode of FP TV is now out, and you can find the link to it, below.
Safe travels this long weekend, and I hope you spend quality time with your family and friends.
Educationally Yours,
Mr. Hill
Director of First Program

Floor Hockey @ CI
On Saturday January 18th, the CDS FP floor hockey teams traveled to Chadwick to play in the annual floor hockey jamboree. We had 7 players representing our 4/5 team, which meant that our players had very few opportunities to catch their breath during the games. They worked extremely hard and gave some bigger and stronger teams a run for their money. Our Grade 2/3 team was made up of 10 players. Having 4 subs allowed our players to run even harder, knowing that they would get lots of rest time. That extra energy gave our younger students a large advantage and they were able to find a lot of success. Both teams showed a lot of perseverance and improvement over the course of the day and should be really proud of their accomplishments. Our next events are on February 1st, as there is a girls indoor soccer jamboree (Gr. 1-5) at Chadwick and a badminton clinic (Gr. 3-5) at KIS Pangyo. If you are interested in signing up, please visit our FP website.
In the Spotlight
This week we are featuring G4.
G4 with Mr. Cool
It has been so great to see everyone after a nice long winter break. It looks like everyone had a very restful holiday and is ready to get back to work! In grade 4 we are starting projects in science and literacy and an awesome unit on fractions in math. Our 4th graders will become geologists and study the layers of the earth, tectonic plates and the rock cycle! They will also be studying a famous person from history and writing a research paper! It is going to be a really exciting next couple of weeks!
