Take a look at our Kids Growing With Grains Field Trip!!
We will starting Unit 3 next week. This is the first of our measurement units this year. We will be discussing area, perimeter, metric and customary units of measure. In Unit 4 we will be discussing fractions; equivalent, comparing, adding and subtracting. Be on the lookout for the Family Resource activities for this unit. Please continue to practice those math facts with some fun games!
We wrapped up Science this week with hermit crab to human comparisons with functions and structures of claws, eyes, and gills. We will be starting S.S. next week with projects and research on the Native American tribes of Maryland. Click here for some more Social Studies fun.
Next week we'll be drawing inferences,analyzing the characters based on their thoughts, feelings and actions, as well as taking a closer look at the setting and events of the story to identify details in a novel selection. The Butterfly Ridge Elementary School Media Center website has lot's of fun books to not only listen to, but read as well.
We have been working on the various aspects of narrative writing. We started with an idea or event and then transferred our initial thought into a more detailed story map. In this map we wrote about events leading up to and after the climax. We have also been developing characters by thinking about their internal and external features.
