The Gayman Directory
The Gayman Directory will be published in September.
This includes information extracted from the Parent Portal. It contains your child's name, grade, teacher, address, parent emails and contact information. It is a password protected document and is not used for business or marketing purposes.

One Team Challenge in Grade One
1st graders had a blast using teamwork to save “Fred the Gummy Worm”. They needed to share ideas and work together in order to use only paper clips (no hands!) to put Fred inside his “lifesaver”. Big Take Away – they couldn’t do this alone – they needed to work as ONE TEAM.
Math in Action
In K-6 classrooms everyday, students engage in Calendar Math and Math in Focus. Teachers ask:
- What is a portion of a circle called?
- What are the factors of 6?
- How are numbers represented?
Here are the answers that students discover through observation and conversation:
- sector
- 1, 2, 3, 6
- whole numbers, factions, decimals (and more!)
Art Around the World: Learning from Other Cultures
Gayman's 4th grade students were introduced to the mesmerizing artwork of Yayoi Kusama, a Japanese Artist who has used dots throughout her artwork since she was a child. The 4th gr. students are using a variety of patterns in their own pumpkin compositions.
Band and Strings Announcement
A reminder for all 4th, 5th and 6th grade parents that have a student interested in joining the band or orchestra program. Please try to fill out and return the class enrollment form to your homeroom teacher by Wednesday, September 18th. The sooner the band and orchestra forms are returned, the sooner the instrumental music classes can get under way.
Thank you,
Mr. Losch
