The Hall Way...
Hello Northwood families!
This week second quarter progress reports will be finalized and will be available in the Parent Portal at the end of the week. Please remind your students that they should turn in any missing work that they have.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and staff. Please never hesitate to reach out if you or your student needs help with anything. Our teachers, social workers, nurse, staff, and administration are here to help. Please call our office at 815-338-4900 and we will get you connected. Warhawks take care of each other and we are here to work together and support each other. Have a healthy and groovy week!

MySAEBRS During PRIDE groups on 11/20/20
D200 is committed to providing a wide range of support to all students. Therefore, we want to be sure that during these stressful times we are watching carefully for signs that students are struggling. MySAEBRS (Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener) is a brief and efficient tool for universal screening of student risk for social-emotional and behavioral problems for students in Grades K through 12.
All D200 students 6-8 will be asked to complete a very brief 10 minute survey. This will be done in their PRIDE groups on Friday, November 20th. Our social workers will assist in this work and look specifically for students that need support during this time.
It's Groovy to Be Grateful and Have Gratitude
This past Friday in PRIDE groups our students discussed GRATITUDE. Please encourage your student in complete the Gratitude Challenge linked below and focus on the positive things around us.

Blue Light Glasses
We have a very generous community member that is donating Blue Light glasses to any student in need in our district. Blue light blocking glasses have specially crafted lenses that are said to block or filter out the blue light given off from digital screens.
If you wish to receive a FREE pair of blue light glasses for your student, please fill out the form below.
Please fill this out by Nov. 23rd.
Parent Portal vs. Canvas Observer: What's the Difference?
District 200 uses two platforms to both instruct and report grades. Your Canvas Observer account allows you to see course work that is occurring in your student's classes. In Canvas, you will be able to see assignments, quizzes, and material being covered in class. You can also receive email alerts about announcements your student's teacher makes to the class.
In your Parent Portal you will be able to see your student's overall grade in a course as well as individual assignment and assessment grades. While you may not be able to see the actual assignment like you would in Canvas, you can still see some short details about the assignment by clicking on it. The Parent Portal also allows you to see some basic information about your student in the district, such as attendance and their schedule.
For help with either of these platforms, or to get signed up with an account, please contact the school.
