LTAC 2020-2021 Back-to-School Drive-Thru
Directions for Back-To-School Drive Thru
The drive-thru process:
- After turning in the Locust Farm driveway from Leestown Road, please proceed toward the school.
- After passing through the double red gates, take your first right to the greeting station. Mrs. Vannatter, Administrative Dean, and Mrs. DeMott, Principal, will greet you and provide directions.
- After receiving directions, you will continue through the lower parking lot toward the produce stand in front of the Greenhouse. You will receive your schedule, copy of the 2020-2021 FCPS Student Code of Conduct and your 2019-20 yearbook (if you ordered one). Mrs. Fox, Mrs. Reed and Mrs. Jones are your hostesses.
- You will continue past the Greenhouse (on your left, road turns to gravel), following the gravel road until you come to the Equine Arena (will be in front of you to the left).
- You will be directed to turn left and pass in front of the Equine Arena stalls, where you will be greeted by the LTAC teachers.
- At the end of the Equine Arena, Mrs. Magedanz will direct you to the circle in front of the school if you are ready to pay the $16 all-inclusive LTAC fee. This annual fee covers all basic instructional supplies for all LTAC classes. If you are not prepared to pay your fees at this time, you will proceed back down the driveway to exit onto Leestown Road.
- Mrs. Collins will greet you in the circle to pay fees. We accept cash or check. If paying by check, please make check payable to LTAC.
- You will be given a receipt for your fees.
- After paying fees, please exit the circle by turning left and heading down the driveway toward Leestown Road. An officer will be there to assist you as you merge into traffic coming from the Equine Arena.
- Please be careful as you pull out onto Leestown Road. Our driveway is somewhat "hidden" between two small "hills".

Be Canvas Ready!!!!!
Counselor's Corner
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE HERE! It is a strange time in the world and it presents many challenges, but it also presents many possibilities!
I will be working hard this year to provide support and encouragement to all Locust Trace students and families. I will be working, mostly behind the scenes, on social and emotional learning; career and college planning and assistance; and academic support for students and families. I want to encourage you to reach out to me for anything you may need. I am available at school via school phone at 859-381-3990.
My email address is janet.fox@fayette.kyschools.us.
You can also text or call me using my Google Voice number at 859-488-1672.
First thing on the list will be schedules and addressing any challenges there. Please read this newsletter thoroughly and do not delete it! You will want to refer back to these first few newsletters because it will have critical information for starting the new year!
First order of business SCHEDULE CHANGES! You will be able to access your schedule via IC on Monday, and, I hope you will take advantage of our LTAC Drive-Thru Orientation Monday evening from 5 PM to 7 PM. I do want to see as many smiling faces Monday evening as possible! While it is a strange beginning, it is a NEW OPPORTUNITY to learn and grow together. We need to celebrate it!
If, after you receive your schedule, you would like to see if it can be changed, go to https://bit.ly/2EkbzzY. Schedule changes are a bit more challenging during virtual learning, but I will do my best to assist if I can.
Keep breathing… wash your hands and stay well! We will be back together again before you know it!

Any LTAC staff member may deduct points for any standard, however once a point is lost, it is lost for the day. If student repeats inappropriate behavior in the same day, no more points deducted for that day for respective standard and student will receive immediate feedback and coaching. Teachers will record a weekly employability grade in Infinite Campus (IC). Virtual Employability Guidelines Coming Soon

Students will choose the method of assessment, where applicable. Examples of assessment methods are in the example unit found at the end of the proposal (currently in the process of finalization). Students have the option to re-assess within 10 school days from the initial assessment date. Before re-assessing, students must participate in material review and supplemental instruction. Students may re-assess if they are not satisfied with their level of mastery and/or the instructor feels re-assessment is beneficial.
Scale and Descriptors for Academic and Occupation Standards
- See chart below
*Dual credit courses taught in partnership with a post-secondary educational institution will follow the grading policies and procedures outlined by each respective College or University, in accordance with contractual agreements
Benchmark Progression (Virtual)
Students will be measured on the progress toward mastery of each learning statement.
Benchmark Progression (In-Person)
Each week, under the guidance of a career advisor, students will reflect on their progression of learning for that week and establish learning goals for the upcoming week. Students will be evaluated on their ability to reflect on and take ownership in their learning, establish realistic SMART learning goals utilizing feedback from advisors and peers, follow guidelines and timelines to ensure appropriate curriculum pacing, use the Plan, Do, Study, Act, Evaluate process to self-monitor learning and practice skills before performing for assessment. Benchmark progressions ensure students “stay on track” to complete the units of study for each course.
Final Assessment
Students will develop a project that highlights the learning they have mastered in each course for the semester. Students, under the guidance of an advisor, will choose the type of assessment they prefer.
Grade Equivalents
- See chart below
*The letter grade a student receives at Locust Trace will remain the same letter grade at the home high school or program school. The counselor at Locust Trace will work with the counselors at all of our sending schools to develop a grade equivalency chart for each sending school.
Progress Reporting
- Every 4 weeks
- Progress reports will be shared electronically and/or printed copies mailed home (parents/care providers will specify preferred method)
A simplified chart and directions will be provided to students during the second week of school.
