WEEKLY NEWS
Office Library Door Locked: In light of our recent Active Shooter/Armed Assailant training, and after consulting with the Oceanside Fire Department, we have decided that the door leading from the main office to the library will be locked at all times. Staff are asked to please enter the library through the front door. You may still exit the library through the doors going to the main office.
SECURE PRINT begins March 3rd! Please DO NOT share your Employee ID (new copy code) with ANYONE. This will give them access to print anything that they would like from your Google Drive. If you have volunteers, or anyone else that needs a code, please see Erin for a new user code for that person. We already have codes set up for Interns, Substitute Teachers, PTA, and more!
Please read this how to guide when printing to Canon-SecurePrint. If you have any issues printing please contact IT through the work order system.
Next week we have our Parent/Student Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, March 10 and Thursday, March 12. We will have minimum days on both of those days to accommodate conferences. ILT voted to approve this MINIMUM DAY ASSEMBLY SCHEDULE. We are excited that the fabulous magician Kevin Viner will be here on March 10 to wow our students during period 4 and 5 assemblies! Please check out the schedule.

Health and Safety Update: COVID-19
As you know, we have sent district communication home to families with updates and information regarding the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). You are likely getting questions from students or seeing students becoming anxious. We will continue to communicate any developments, and as needed, we will collaborate with local and state health departments as they monitor the progression of this health situation. Superintendent's Coronavirus Health Alert to the Community
I am including here the CDC recommendations for proactive steps to take to stay healthy. You can share these with your students to help us ensure that we are focused on prevention of illnesses such as COVID-19 and the flu.
- Stay home when you are sick. If possible, stay home from work, school, and errands when you are sick. You will help prevent others from catching your illness. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Cover coughs and sneezes. Use a tissue to cover coughs and sneezes, then dispose of the tissue. When a tissue is not available, cough or sneeze into your elbow.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces or objects. Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces at home, work or school, especially when someone is ill. Find additional CDC resources on how to clean and disinfect schools.
- Wash hands for 20 seconds. Washing hands often under clean, running water can help prevent the spread of germs. For more guidance see the CDC: When and How to Wash Your Hands. If you cannot wash your hands, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60-95% alcohol.
Thank you for your support in decreasing fears and promoting prevention of illness. We will continue to monitor and provide information on implementing any health and CDC recommendations.
Artful Learning Highlights!
In Mrs. Graf's 8th Grade ELA, students have been reading books about heroes during the Holocaust. In order to make a personal connection to the literature, they created a cube mural project. Students designed the left side of the cube as a reflection of themselves, and the right side of the cube as a reflection of one of the themes they have been reading about. These three cubes represent the themes of "Growing up Fast", "Courage", and "Being a Prisoner."
