2023-2024 School Year!
Message from the Principal
Dear AMHS Parents and Students,
Welcome Back to Arabia Mountain High School for the 2023-2024 school year! I hope that you have had the opportunity to take some time to relax and enjoy your summer vacation. I am excited to welcome you back to the building beginning Monday, August 7, 2023. As we gear up for the exciting school year, we are stepping into a world of excitement and teamwork with a theme that celebrates individuality and unity – "Arabia, A League of Our Own. Captivating. Inspiring. Transforming!!
To our returning students, welcome back! Your dedication and hard work continue to inspire us, and we cannot wait to witness your continued growth and achievements. For our new students and families, a heartfelt welcome! We are delighted to have you join our league, and we look forward to getting to know each one of you.
Throughout the school year, we will explore and celebrate our uniqueness. Just as baseball players have their positions, we will encourage each student to find their strengths and embrace their roles within our academic and extracurricular endeavors. We believe that it is through embracing our individuality that we form a strong and unified team, supporting each other and celebrating every success, big or small.
In our league, teamwork is everything! We encourage students to collaborate with their classmates, teachers, and families to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Together, we will learn, grow, and face challenges head-on, just like true champions.
As we begin this unforgettable journey, we encourage you all to embody the spirit of "A League of Our Own." Let us remember that together, we are unstoppable, and every one of us plays a vital role in shaping our future.
We eagerly anticipate the upcoming academic year, and we cannot wait to witness the brilliance and determination of our incredible students.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or ideas, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Together, we will make this academic year one to remember!
Again, welcome back and we look forward to seeing you this Thursday, August 3rd for our 2023-2024 Open House!!!
With great enthusiasm and warmest regards,
Mrs. Tanya Mason | Principal
Important School Information
Instruction
Arabia Mountain High School operates on a traditional 7-period schedule. All classes, with the exception of mathematics courses, are taught at the accelerated level. Therefore, it is imperative that our students develop strong time management and study skills. Students should engage in daily study outside of the time spent on homework to avoid cramming for summative assessments.

Attention 11th Grade Students and Parents
11th Grade Immunization Requirements
Before starting the 2021-2022 school year, all students entering or transferring into 11th grade will need proof of a meningococcal booster shot (MCV4), unless their first dose was received on or after their 16th birthday.
Note that this booster vaccine is required in addition to the MCV4 vaccine that was required for your child before his or her beginning 7th grade.
Meningococcal disease is a serious bacterial illness that affects the brain and the spinal cord. Meningitis can cause shock, coma, and death within hours of the first symptoms.
To help protect your children and others from meningitis, Georgia law requires students to be vaccinated against this disease unless the child has an exemption.
Additional Requirements
- Certificates must be signed by a physician licensed in GA or a public health official. A stamp of a Physician’s signature is permissible when cosigned by an office staff member.
- Certificates must have a printed typed or stamped name and address of the physician, health department, or Georgia Registry of Immunization Transactions and Services (GRITS) official issuing the certificate.
- Certificates must have a complete date of issue with the month, day, and year.
Exemptions
In the state of Georgia, if there is a religious objection to the vaccination of a child, a completed affidavit on Form 2208 is required. After completion of the affidavit, the parent or legal guardian must have the form filed with the school or childcare facility the child will be attending as legal documentation of exemption from the required immunizations mentioned above.
Medical Waivers/Exemptions are a part of Georgia Form 3231 and are reviewed annually.
Please submit a copy of your student's updated immunization record to our school nurse, Ms. Hill, in the clinic by Friday, August 11th. You may also email a copy to our nurse at bettye_hill@dekalbschoolsga.org.
