They can use the internet to record the information or go outside and sketch/label each night’s phase. A quiz over all of Lesson 5 will be given on Thursday.

- Mrs. Thurston's Math/ELA: This week we will finish up customary weight, and take a quiz on weight on Thursday. Then we will start metric measurement. In ELA, we are reviewing theme. There is spelling this week but because of the short week the test will be on Thursday.
- Ms. Leonard's Math: We are starting metric measurement this week and will quiz on it on Thursday.
- Ms. Harris' GT Math/ELA: This week we will start metric measurement in math. Since we are out of school next Monday (20th), there will be NO math stars that week. Students will also start getting a 5 question math review each night to help keep all the information they have learned this year fresh. This will be a completion grade and each day we will go over the answers to review and check for understanding. In ELA, we will continue working on myths and text-dependent analysis questions. Students' novels are due next Tuesday (21st). They must have read the book and completed 3 activities of their choice. There is no spelling this week.
Tomorrow is Valentine's Day
Students are welcome to bring in valentines to share with the class tomorrow afternoon. They can also bring in their own "mailbox" to hold their valentines in if they'd like. Those who do not bring one in will be decorating bags in class tomorrow morning to use as mailboxes.

Chickfila Night Wednesday!
Come enjoy dinner and support FMES at the Baxter Chick-fil-a on Wednesday!
Conservation Caper
The Conservation Caper will visit FMES on 2/15/2017. This program is designed to help our students understand the importance of saving energy through a fun educational experience!
Along with this great show, students, families, and faculty are being asked to help save 10 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy this school year.
To achieve this goal, every family at our school can request a FREE energy efficiency kit for their home from Duke Energy. When our families and staff request and use these kits in their homes, energy is saved—and it can be measured.
You should have received a “My Energy Kit” Challenge form. We have already had 22 families request the Free Energy kits. If we reach 100, our school will receive $250 and an additional $250 for every 100 kits after that. You can fill out the form at MyEnergyKit.org, or by calling 1-855-386-9548.
Other Information:
- No School Friday or next Monday.
- The week of February 27th-March 3rd is Read Across America Week at FMES. A schedule of events will be coming home shortly and I will be reminding students daily of the next day's events. March 3rd is Mystery Readers day and I'd love to schedule a few mystery readers throughout the day to come and read to the class. If you'd be interested in popping in sometime during the day and reading to the class for 10-15 minutes, please let me know. You can pick a book that is important to you or I can send home a few options for you to choose from.
