West Middleton Update
~Building a Compassionate, Collaborative Community For All~
A few quick updates from Mrs. Krych for March 2019
When I was reading through my newsletter from March 2018, I was gushing about the gorgeous weekend. We couldn't be further from a gorgeous weekend right now, but I do have faith that spring is around the corner. They're forecasting 50's and rain on Wednesday and Thursday this week so please continue to have your students wear their snowpants and boots because things are going to get muddy and wet out there. Even though it feels like we haven't had much school since winter break, we are only two weeks away from spring break (the week of March 25th). If you are going to have your child out of school for an extended period of time before or after Spring Break, please make sure to complete an extended absence form and return it to Ms. Probasco in the main office.
A HUGE "Thank You" to our fabulous PTO and all of the volunteers who made our Spring Neon Night dance such a huge success last week!! And another shout out to Marnie Hyland, our fabulous art teacher, for an amazing Art Show. Marnie does an incredible job tapping into our students' creativity and designing beautiful art projects for them to complete.
There have been multiple reports of unsafe driving and parking from parents at the end of the day pick up. Please remember that our expectations around drop off and pick up are in place to ensure ALL students' safety. Please park in designated stalls (and don't forget about our additional parking spaces behind the Annex) and either park and come to the front of the school to pick up your child or have your children cross towards your car at the crosswalk in the front of the building. Students have been darting in front of cars and in between buses which is extremely dangerous. Please be very cautious when backing out of parking spots and drive extremely slowly through the parking lot. It takes all of us to make our parking lot a safe space for our students. The Dane County Sheriff's Department will have some deputies helping to enforce these rules over the next few weeks.
Finally, this Friday we will be sending report cards home in your child's backpack. You may also access your child's report card in Infinite Campus. This is another way we can provide you with feedback on your child's growth over the last trimester. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher. It has been amazing to watch and celebrate our students' growth over the past few months. We can't wait to see what they're able to accomplish during this final trimester.
Stay warm, think spring and remember that at West Middleton, we are better together!!
With Gratitude,
Mrs. Krych

A Note From Your School Nurse
The temperature is rising which means spring is right around the corner! That means that the snow is melting, the ground is thawing....which can make for some pretty wet and muddy conditions outside! Now would be a great time to keep an extra set of clothing in your child's backpack. Recess can get messy!
We also ask that if your child does borrow some clothing from the health office that you wash it and send it back to school. Our supplies are starting to dwindle again!
Thanks for your help!
