Student Success Center is hiring undergraduate academic coaches
Job Description: Academic coaches help students learn effective approaches to studying; strategies for managing time and balancing deadlines; and strategies for taking tests. The academic coach will also help students understand the expectations of academic work.
Responsibilities include meeting one-on-one with students on a weekly or bi-weekly basis; assisting students in establishing effective study, organizational, and planning habits; guiding students in the development of effective problem-solving, goal-setting, and self-advocacy skills; referring students to available campus resources as needed; documenting sessions and referring to records of prior sessions on a regular basis; and attending training/professional development events.
Qualifications: Ideal candidates will be undergraduate students in their junior or senior years who have demonstrable study skills, are adept at problem solving, and have strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Academic coaches will have regularly scheduled shifts of 5-10 hours per week at a rate of $12 per hour. Students who are interested in applying should complete our application form and submit it along with a cover letter and resume. In the cover letter, please describe your own experiences as a student and how they might contribute to your desire or ability to be an effective academic coach. This can include how you manage your own workload, your study strategies, and any other relevant experiences. Submit all documents to Denae Sisco, Learning Specialist for the Student Success Center, at denae.sisco@temple.edu.

Honors Community Outreach Meeting
Honors Lounge
Looking for a way to be more involved in the communities surrounding temple? Considering an internship at a nonprofit? Have too much free time on your hands? We have the answer to your problems: join us in volunteering opportunities around Philadelphia. We are launching Honors Community Outreach (HCO) to help you find volunteering opportunities with local organizations. Opportunities will range from weekly commitment to one-time participation at events. There will be a general interest meeting on Tuesday January 23rd at 6pm in the Honors lounge. Light snacks will be provided.
