Welcome to the 2020 School Year!

Hello Students and Families!

We want to take a moment and welcome you to the 2020 school year! The student services team here at Crystal Lake South High School is missing our students and looking forward to the day that we are all back in the building together.

Even though students are remote, the student services team is still fully operational and here to support our students and families in a remote setting. Click HERE to see our full Crystal Lake South Student Services staff directory.

Students can book virtual appointments with our student services staff by clicking HERE.

Student Services Canvas Page and Daily Supports

Big picture

All CLS Students were sent an invitation to access the CLS Student Services Canvas Page.

Through this Canvas page, students will be able to have access to the following:

  • Links to book virtual appointments with counselors, social workers, and our school psychologist

  • Social emotional and mindfulness resources - Including a virtual calm room!

  • Resources from our College and Career Center. This includes our calendar for virtual college rep visits throughout the year.

  • The ability to check into student services and talk to someone right away through Zoom if needed

If students find themselves during the day wanting to ask a question or talk to someone in student services (counselor, social worker) regarding a non emergency issue, students will be able to access someone live via the Canvas page.

Clicking the hyperlink on the Canvas home page will direct you to a zoom call with our student services front desk, where someone will be able to answer your question, help you book an appointment, or arrange for you to talk to someone. This feature of the Canvas page is only available during school hours (9:45am - 2:50pm on Mondays and 8:00am - 2:50pm on Tuesdays-Fridays). We will take these calls one at a time, so please know that students will be the only one on the zoom call once admitted. If students are not let into the zoom call right away, it is most likely because we are helping someone else and we will be with them shortly.

Know that our student services department is here and ready to support you through remote learning and beyond. Do not hesitate to reach out with questions.

All high school students, parents, and counselors throughout Illinois are all welcome to attend. Participation is free.

PSAT/NMSQT For Juniors

Saturday, Oct. 17th, 7:30am

McHenry Avenue

Crystal Lake, IL

Crystal Lake South High School will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT to current juniors on Saturday, October 17th, 2020. This is not a required exam, but this exam does have benefits for our juniors, so we want to make sure that it is offered to our students.

The PSAT/NMSQT is an official test through the College Board. This exam serves two main purposes:

  1. It serves as a practice SAT and allows students the ability to practice taking a standardized exam. Students will receive a score breakdown from the College Board that will provide them with feedback on the different sections of the exam. This will allow students to prepare accordingly prior to taking the SAT in the spring.

  2. Students have the opportunity to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Competition.

This year the PSAT/NMSQT cost is $25.00. Online exam registration begins on Monday, August 31st and ends on Monday, September 14th. Please visit the website below to register for the PSAT/NMSQT:

https://user.totalregistration.net/PSAT/141517

Please complete all the required fields and print off the confirmation page when completed. You will have the ability to pay online through Total Registration, so we encourage you to have a credit or debit card available during the time of registration.
