Woodcrest gratitude and appreciation!
Greetings Woodcrest families,
It is American Education Week and we are celebrating our staff’s commitment, hard work, and tremendous effect on our community. Each member of the Woodcrest staff continues to do a tremendous job navigating yet another school year impacted by COVID-19. Quality of relationships, of work, and of learning all come to mind when I think about the work of our staff. Their efforts, values, creativity, and mindsets make me proud to be their colleague.
To recognize our staff, this last Monday, along with our colleagues from the district office and school board, we gathered briefly to share a moment together with coffee and treats. If you have a chance to share appreciation this week, I know it goes a long way.
We have a wonderful staff and we also are experiencing – as many industries are – a shortage specifically with substitutes. While we aren’t seeing the same impacts as other school districts, we would welcome your interest in supporting students in this way. You need a college degree, and we help with the rest. If this sounds interesting to you, find out more about becoming a substitute.
A thanks and farewell
Sometimes, we have to say farewell to colleagues as they find new adventures. This last Friday, Darrin Olmscheid, Student Support Behavior Coordinator, shared with our staff that he is leaving Woodcrest for a new opportunity. We are proud of Mr. Olmscheid and are sad to see him leave. The work he has done here has been fruitful and impactful, and we wish him the best in his new adventure.
We have begun the process to find the right person to carry on this work at Woodcrest. For those of you who have worked most closely with Mr. Olmscheid, please know we are working to make this a smooth transition. If you have questions, please let me know.
Finally, we’re a week away from our Thanksgiving break. Please remember there is no school Wednesday, November 24 through Friday, November 26. Your child will return to school after the Thanksgiving break on Monday, November 29, for the last week of the trimester. (Can you believe it?!)
I hope you enjoyed the first snow last weekend…front yard sledding is always a highlight for my children! Have a great week and thank you for your continued partnership in making Woodcrest such a wonderful community.
Con gratitúd,
John Franke
