St. Patrick’s Day Parade - New Tradition!
Ireland Elementary is starting a new tradition of walking in the Ireland St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Since it is the final year for our 5th grade students to be in Ireland, we would like to give them the honor to walk in the parade with Ireland Elementary staff members.
The parade is on Sunday, March 15. Your child will need to be dropped off at 12:30 pm in St. Mary’s Church parking lot. You will not be able to park in the parking lot. Please have your child wear his/her green Ireland Elementary shirt. There will be a letter sent home to those students who will be walking in the parade on Friday, March 13 with our parade number.
Please turn in your permission slip. It is found right below!
This Week's App Education - Facebook
Every week, there will be a new app that I will try to give you some facts about. This week's app is Facebook. See the flyer below for the pros, cons, safety guidelines, and more!
A pdf file is located below the image if you would like to print it out.
Facebook is an online social media platform that has over 2 billion users across the globe. It’s important that parents familiarise themselves with the main features of the platform to ensure their young ones remain safe if and when they use it. Children under the age of 13 are NOT advised to have a Facebook account.
Health Guidelines
The Indiana Department of Education has guidelines that all schools and parents must abide by. Please see picture below for detailed information.
Upcoming Census
The 2020 Census will impact the federal funds that schools receive each year for special education, classroom technology, teacher training, after-school programs, school lunch assistance, and more. It will also affect billions in funds for other community services. Our students count on us every day.
Here is your chance to help shape the future, not only for them but for your whole community. See flyer below for more information.

Night to Shine Fundraiser
On Sunday, March 22nd, the Evansville Thunderbolts are playing the Birmingham Bulls at the Ford Center at 4:00 (Jasper Time). That day is a fundraiser day for Night to Shine in Dubois County.
The tickets are $10 each and the Thunderbolts are going to donate $3 from each ticket sold to Night to Shine. We will also be manning the "Chuck a Puck" tables and get all proceeds from that.
Hockey lasts just over 2 hours and is a ton of fun. The tickets are located in rows 5-11 behind near the goal. After the game, Swonder Ice is hosting open skate on the ice for anyone brave enough to put on some skates and have some fun.
So please consider getting your family, friends, neighbors or group of people together and come on over to Eville on a Sunday afternoon for some hockey fun!
If interested or if you need more information, please let me know.

Thanks for your support!
Have you ever thought of being a substitute teacher? If so, we NEED you!
It's almost Thanksgiving! It's almost Christmas! Every year we scurry to make a difference in disadvantaged children's lives during the holidays. Toys, clothes, and food are all wonderful things to give children, but most of all... our children need role models.
We need people with a calling to serve others in our schools daily. Substitutes are needed who truly desire to make an impact in children's lives. It's more difficult than cutting a check or cleaning out a closet, but your interaction with students might be the relationship that points a child toward a beautiful life.
Please consider giving the most impacting gift that you can this year... yourself. If you feel moved to help our students, please contact the central office at (812)482-1801.

Volunteers!
Anyone who would like to volunteer at school or chaperone a field trip must submit a background check. Once this is done, it is good as long as your child is a student at Ireland. If you aren't sure if you have completed one, your child's teacher can look it up for you. Background Check Link
