Information from Dr. Scholl

The students are doing a great job getting into the routine of school! They are wearing their masks, washing their hands, and social distancing as much as possible! All of this has helped us avoid additional close contact quarantining. If your child is identified as a close contact to someone who is COVID positive (family member, someone at a childcare facility, sporting activity, church...) and has to quarantine from that activity, please understand they must also quarantine from school. Please let us know if your child is quarantined so that we can mark the attendance correctly to avoid unexcused absences or using all of your parent notes. If you have questions please don't hesitate to reach out to us! We are relying on you, to be honest with us regarding quarantine information to help keep all of us in school! We are all working through this together! Thank you for your grace, understanding, and support!

School Fees

School Fees and donations went live on September 1. Please go to myschoolfees to access and pay your student fees for the 2020-2021 school year. The Fees sheet overview can be downloaded here.

Counselor’s Corner

Over the course of the following week, I will be conducting a needs assessment to help guide the school counseling program. The data collected will be used to determine the topics in upcoming guidance lessons, small group interventions, and other supportive programs. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. Your honest responses to all questions will be most helpful to us as we review and evaluate the effectiveness of the Guidance and Counseling Program at South Shades Crest Elementary. All responses will be kept confidential and used to improve our program. Spirit Night

Mark your calendar! We’ve got dinner plans for your family on Thursday, September 24!

Chick-fil-A at The Grove will host SSC spirit night from 4 -7 pm. A portion of all sales during that time will be donated to our school!

Hospitality

Help us celebrate National Arts in Education Week by submitting photos and videos of your little artists with their artwork, playing an instrument, or saying thanks to their music and art teachers! The hospitality coordinator will compile all entries into a video for SSC’s marvelous music teacher, Mrs. Gray, and awesome art teacher, Mrs. Johnson!

Lunchroom News:

The Free/Reduced price meal application brochure is linked. Printed copies will be distributed to all students when school begins.


Curbside Pickup of meal bags will be available each day, Monday-Friday, from 11:00am - 1:00pm, at Green Valley, Berry, Bumpus and Simmons. Each meal bag will contain a ready to eat lunch and breakfast for the next day. The first day of school will start back the National School Lunch/Breakfast Programs; therefore, meals will be charged based on eligibility - see attached flyer.
