January 10, 2024
Dear NSD Families and Staff,
We begin 2024 with newly inaugurated leaders, which is a great way to start a new year. Yesterday, Ellie Lively, a grade 5 student at Bicentennial Elementary School, was inaugurated in Concord at the State House as the 2024 NH Kid Governor. With her right hand raised, she confidently said "I do," when Chief Justice MacDonald finished reciting the oath of office in front of hundreds of attendees, including dignitaries, state officials, members of the press, Ellie's family, and her grade 5 classmates, teachers, and administrators from Bicentennial. Congratulations, Governor Lively!
Ellie was elected statewide among seven candidates, who were nominated among thousands of other applicants for the office. We applaud NH Civics for providing this highly engaging opportunity for so many students to learn about elections and to experience firsthand the democratic process. We look forward to Governor Lively administering her office, managing her executive council, and promoting her platform to prevent animal cruelty, a very noble platform. Good luck, Governor Lively!
In addition, Daniel Healey, City of Nashua Clerk, inaugurated the newest members of the Nashua Board of Education on Monday. I welcome Shewanda Daniels-Williams, Rob Johnson, and Kirsten Prinn, who were elected last fall along with incumbents Jennifer Bishop and Sharon Giglio to the Board. It will be a busy and productive year, particularly with the opening our newest school, McCarthy Middle School. We have much to look forward to this year.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mario Andrade, Ed.D.

Nashua Board of Education
The first meeting of the calendar year was an organizational meeting for the Board. At the top of the meeting, Daniel Healey, the City of Nashua Clerk, swore in the newly elected members.
Shewanda Daniels-Williams, Rob Johnson, and Kirsten Prinn were elected last November to the Board along with incumbents Jennifer Bishop and Sharon Giglio.
In addition, Athanasios Miris, a sophomore at Nashua South, joins Warren Farley, a junior who is returning to represent Nashua North once again as the student representative to the Board. Like their predecessors, they will bring a unique point-of-view to the Board as active and involved high school students.
The next Nashua Board of Education meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Nashua High School North.
Kindergarten Registration
It’s a new calendar year and we are looking to register our kindergartners as soon as possible.
Registration for kindergarten begins Monday, February 5 at 9 am. Like the last few years, registration will be online. We encourage parents to register their kindergartner as soon as possible next month.
As you may know, the child must be five years old by September 30, 2024, to register.
If you have questions about registration, please contact Kathie MacIntyre in the school district’s Office of Student Services. She can be reached at 603 966 1068.
