Missoula Children’s Theatre is Coming to St. Teresa’s
The Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for nearly 50 years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,100 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors.
A tour team arrives in a given town in their “little red truck” loaded with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. The team holds an open audition and casts 50-60 local students to perform in the production. The show is rehearsed throughout the week and a public performance is presented at the end of the week.
All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love. Also included in the residency are three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors. Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through participation in this unique, educational project. MCT’s mission is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.
The red truck will be coming to our Spillville site during Catholic Schools Week. Auditions for students in grades 3-8 will be Monday after school starting at 3:00. Busing will be provided for those students wanting to participate. Rehearsals will take place after school in Spillville the rest of the week. The final performance will be Friday at 1:00 pm. All students will be able to attend and it is open to the public. More information will be provided closer to the event January 31-Feb. 4.
Fundraiser for Northeast Iowa Student
St. Teresa is joining efforts with South Winn to help raise money for Shaun Mohs who attends MFL.
On Tuesday, January 18th students and staff are invited to wear a hat for $1.00 and encouraged to wear gray for brain cancer awareness in honor of Shaun Mohs, a student at MFL MarMac in need of a liver transplant.
Tuesday evening the JV/Varsity boys and girls play MFL MarMac at home. There will be containers set out at the game to collect donations for Shaun. There will also be a half court shot fundraiser for him as well.
Let's do all we can to help Shaun! Thank you for your support!
Below is a link about Shaun from KWWL.
Bequest
We are incredibly appreciate of the bequest given to our school. With the generous donation in memory of Lori Huinker, the school will be able to purchase four charging carts to fulfill our goal of one to one devices for all K-8 students. We will finally be able to install wall mats and paint the Ossian gym.
Newly Remodeled Bathroom
Words cannot express enough the gratitude felt for those that organized the remodel of the girls bathroom at the Ossian center. We were blessed with several donors who helped make this project possible.
We would also like to thank the people who prepared the bathroom for the tiling, the installers, and the clean up crew. Your willingness to give freely of your time and talent is greatly appreciated, and your efforts are making a difference in our school.
