ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Families and Friends,
As we head off for the week of Spring Break, we want to reflect on this week’s communications about rising Covid-19 cases in our schools and our recent pivots to remote learning for specific grades and the whole school for one day last week. We have fielded many questions and concerns from families and hope this update is helpful and reassuring to our families, while also serving as a cautionary reminder about how important our collaboration with you is to ensuring keeping students safe and present for in-person learning for the remaining weeks of the school year.
While we have had a few recent pivots, we have not experienced in-school transmission of Covid-19. We know that the uptick in cases we have seen is reflective of the increase in community cases. However, our mitigation efforts have proven to be effective at stopping transmission within our building whenever we have had a positive case identified within our school community. If we were to identify in-school transmission or outbreak in our contact tracing procedures done in conjunction with the Epidemiology Team with the Vermont DOH, we would be required to inform families.
We will continue to adhere closely to Vermont DOH guidelines to mitigate the spread of Covid in our schools as much as we possibly can. This will include maintaining social distancing guidelines, cohort and class groupings across settings, frequent hand washing/sanitizing and lots of cleaning. We look forward to utilizing growing warm days and fresh air to be outside more frequently after break as well!
With the changing guidelines from the Vermont DOH, we know that families are concerned about students returning to school after break without having to quarantine if they have traveled within the United States. We ask that families who are traveling follow all guidelines and if your student seems symptomatic at all upon return, that you follow our protocol of keeping them home. Additionally, here are a few things families can keep doing to help our efforts - encourage social distancing, hand washing and mask wearing, let our school nurse and administrators know of any potential exposure as early as possible, and continue to reach out with any questions or concerns you have.
We sincerely hope that you all enjoy a safe, healthy Spring Break and look forward to seeing everyone again on April 26th!
Kind regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra
