ALTON CHRONICLES
Unleash the SUPERHERO in You!
Message from Mr. Ogg
We have just completed a fantastic six weeks and are set to begin on an adventure for the next six weeks.
Parents, we appreciate your support as we swing into this new school year. Our children have been engaged learners and love coming to school. Currently, we are maintaining a 97% attendance rate. One of the highest attendance rates that Alton Elementary has had in recent years. We thank you for helping us show the children that school is an integral part of their life.
I would ask that you continue to be active with your child while they are attending classes in Brenham ISD. Studies have shown that parents who are engaged in their child's school have children who have fewer behavior problems, better academic performance and are more likely to complete high school.
Our children's future is bright. It can remain bright when we, teachers and parents, work together to help our children succeed. We are off to a great start. Let's keep working toward helping our children be the best superheroes that they can be.
Attendance Challenge
School Pictures
Our Fall Pictures will be Thursday, October 12. These pictures are the main ones that we use for our yearbook so every student will take a picture regardless if you purchase one or not. Information has been sent home about buying photographs, but if you have any questions please call the school.
BISD Block Party
Core Value - "Creativity"
This month we will be talking about "Creativity" - Using your imagination to do something unique. What a perfect core value as we enter into the fall season.
Book Fair/Fall Festival
Our Book Fair will be taking place on Monday, October 23 to Friday, October 27. What a great time to develop a real love for reading by coming and purchasing books for your child.
On Thursday, October 26 we will be hosting our Fall Festival from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm. This will be a great time to come up during the evening to view the books in the Book Fair and have fun with our games and activities throughout the school.
Come on out that night as a Superhero and enjoy the evening and “Unleash the Superhero in You!”
Fall Celebration Day Parade
Tuesday, October 31 we will have our Fall Celebration Day parade. On that day we will allow students to wear creative costumes for our Fall Celebration Day Parade at 8:30 am. We are encouraging students to be creative with their costumes and not to wear:
- Scary masks or face painting
- Blood or gore
- Toy weapons of any kind
We want the students to enjoy the day but not scare others in the process. Remember, our core value for this month is creativity. Let's see how creative we can be.
