Kindergarten Screening

All registered Kindergarten students will be screened on August 5th and 6th. If you have not signed up for a time, please contact the main office. Screening will last about 20-25 minutes. The purpose of screening is to see each student’s skill levels. All of our students come in with different skill sets and we just want to know where students are starting from prior to the first day of school.

Supply Lists

Don’t forget to check out the supply lists for the upcoming school year. There are lots of deals out there and I know many are eager to get supplies bought now. Follow the link below to see our district-wide list.

Powerschool/ Homeroom Teacher

You will be able to view your child’s homeroom teacher through the parent portal of PowerSchool starting on Friday, August 9th at 9:00AM. Kindergarten parents will receive their login information at Kindergarten Screening on August 5th and 6th. All other new families will have theirs sent home in the mail. If you encounter any problems with logging in, please contact the school office.

***Please note, parents and students cannot access Powerschool at this time. If you do not know your login prior to PowerSchool going live on August 9th, contact the main office.

***If you have not yet registered, you will not be able to access Powerschool. Please register ASAP.

Physicals

If you are missing a physical for your child, please make sure to schedule it before the start of the school year. Once school begins, it will be hard to find time to schedule an appointment.

Parent Night

Parent Night is an event that we hold for parents that allow teachers to discuss the curriculum for the year and classroom expectations. Here are the dates for Parent Night:

Attendance Week: Sept 9-13

We have officially signed-up for the Regional Office of Education’s Attendance Week competition where Lake County Schools compete for the highest attendance rate the week of September 9th. The Attendance Competition promotes improved school attendance at the beginning of the school year, and emphasizes the need to attend regularly to receive full educational benefits. This is in collaboration with Attendance Work’s in promoting Attendance Awareness Month.

Last year, Millburn Elementary placed 2nd, this meant that Mr. Rowlands had to shave his beard and Mr. Walshire had to sing karaoke during lunch time. Although we have yet to decide on what our challenge will be this year, we are looking for fun ideas. Someone at school mentioned that we would have to Skydive!!! Let me know if you have any ideas.

Communication

We encourage all families to reach out to us (teachers, administrators, office staff) if you have any questions or concerns you would like for us to address. We aim to make our school the best learning experience for your child and your input is valuable in making that happen. Do not hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help!
