Senior Checkout, Grad Practices, and Grad Ceremony

This newsletter is being sent to all Senior Students. Receiving this newsletter does not mean your student has met all graduation requirements. Please contact your student's counselor with questions about your student's graduation status.

Students who do not meet credit requirements for graduation will not be eligible to walk at the Graduation Ceremony on June 2nd. These students may still be eligible to earn their diploma with KHS if they finish their credits during June Intersession or Summer School.

A word of caution...

Reminder for all Seniors, participation in the Graduation Ceremony is a privilege. You should be following all school rules and demonstrating our KHS Core Values. Any students who break school rules, may be prohibited from participating in the Graduation Ceremony.

Requirements for Graduation Ceremony Participation

Students who are eligible to participate in graduation must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must have ALL required credits completed by the end of their 4th year in high school (students who have to finish credits during the June Intersession or Summer School will not be permitted to participate in graduation. 5th year seniors are not eligible to participate in the graduation ceremony)
  2. Must have a signed Code of Conduct on file with the Activities Office
  3. Must have completed the Senior Exit Survey in Naviance (information on how to access the Senior Exit Survey is at the bottom of this newsletter)
  4. Must have returned all school materials and/or paid all fines for lost materials

Senior Checkout - Tuesday, May 31st

Friday, May 27th

  • Pick-up your Senior Checkout form from the Activities Office
  • Check for tasks you still need to complete and be prepared to take care of those items on Friday, May 27th or Tuesday, May 31st

Tuesday, May 31st
  • Bring your Senior Checkout form
  • Check in at the Large Gym during your assigned time (see schedule below)
  • Once we verify that you are cleared to participate in the Graduation Ceremony, we will issue you your cap and gown and graduation tickets

Senior Checkout Schedule - Report to the Large Gym

  • 8:00 - 9:00 am - Last Names A - D

  • 9:00 - 10:00 am - Last Names E - K
  • 10:00 - 11:00 am - Last Names L - R
  • 11:00 - 12:00 am - Last Names S - Z

*** only report to the Large Gym during your checkout time - you DO NOT need to report to any classes on May 31st ***

Grad Practices are Mandatory

All seniors who are cleared through the Senior Checkout process are eligible to participate in graduation and must participate in both Grad Practices.

  • Dates: June 1st and June 2nd
  • Time: 8:00 am - 11:30 am
  • Location: Large Gym

Helpful Hints:

  • Wear sunscreen
  • Wear comfortable shoes
  • Wear sunglasses or hats as needed
  • Bring water
  • Be prepared to listen and follow directions. The faster we work, the quicker the seniors are released

KHS Commencement Ceremony - June 2nd

Graduating Seniors - We look forward to celebrating your achievements with you and your guests on June 2nd! Please read the following information carefully so we ensure the event goes smoothly.

*** Graduates check in at the Large Gym at 4:30 pm (Bring your ID)***

***Cap decorations will be approved upon check-in at the Large Gym before graduation.***

Information for Guests:

  • ALL people need a graduation ticket (even babies, toddlers, and wheelchair bound individuals need a ticket)
  • Gates will open at 4:30 pm
  • Guests may enter through the visitors or home side gate. Once inside, guests can move from one side of the stadium to the other through the gate near the snack bar
  • Please leave balloons, umbrellas, and large signs in your car - these items will not be allowed in the stadium
  • Yearbooks and Senior Mugs will be available for purchase on the lawn to the South of the home side bleachers
  • Guests can meet graduates on the practice field behind the home side bleachers at the end of the ceremony (parents will not be permitted on the stadium field)

Extra Graduation Tickets?

Each graduate gets 4 graduation tickets. Due to the size of our graduating class, we do not sell extra tickets.

If extra tickets are available we offer them through a lottery system. If you are interested in possibly getting ONE extra ticket, please click the link and fill out the form. Filling out the form does not guarantee you ONE extra ticket, but it will allow you to be entered in the drawing IF we have additonal tickets available. Anyone who gets an extra ticket will be issued the extra ticket at Senior Checkout.

Capture the Moment Your Student Receives their Diploma!

Don't Forget.....Senior Survey Needs to Be Done by May 25th

All seniors must complete the Senior Survey through Naviance. This survey helps us collect important data regarding each student's plans for college and/or career training after high school.

Completion of the survey will also be part of the senior checkout process. To make sure your Senior Checkout goes as quickly as possible, please make sure you have completed the survey before coming to the Senior Checkout.
