November 28 - December 4
Mentoring Wednesdays!
This Wednesday, December 1st, mentoring will look a little different than usual. ALL students at all NSD high schools will be going to their Mentor class for 1st and 2nd periods. Students will not be traveling to the other high schools or the elective classes (music, foreign language, or CTE classes) during these class periods. It is important that students are in their Mentoring class. 3rd and 4th periods we will resume the normal Mentor day routine of going to traveling classes or elective classes or staying in your Mentor class.
Attending Mentoring is important for students to stay current in classes, hear information being shared with all students, and complete schoolwide/districtwide tasks and assessments. Thank you for helping your student(s) in being present in Mentoring Wednesdays!
Second Semester Schedules
Counselors are putting the final pieces into place for second semester schedules. Students are able to see their schedule in PowerSchool and should review it starting December 3rd. Remember . . . schedules were built based upon student course requests made last spring.
Schedule changes are limited. Changes will be considered for the following reasons only:
- Schedule change is needed to meet graduation requirements.
- The schedule has an error (class period with no course, duplicate course listed, etc.).
- You do not meet the prerequisite for the course.
Change requests will be accepted from December 3rd-10th. All changes depend upon class size and change requests are not guaranteed. Changes may require administrator approval and parent consent.
If a student would like to request a change based upon one of the above considerations, please go to the Career Center. Students will fill out information about their request. The counselor assigned to your child(ren) will call students down to visit and review the request. Thank you for following this process and not contacting the counselor directly as we work to make this process as efficient as possible.
THE GIVING DRIVE
We are hosting a Giving Drive until December 22nd with all donations feeding Columbia’s resource room. As winter is right around the corner, we need as many donations as possible to be able to provide families with any food, clothing, hygiene products or school supplies needed. Each student has a designated mentor house that they meet with every Wednesday. Each Mentor house is competing against each other within their grade level to see who can get the most donations. Any donations can be dropped off with your students' mentor during school hours Monday-Friday. This drive is just a little different as items will be worth different points for your students'. Whichever mentor house has the most points from donations will receive a pizza party!!
