From Cave Painting to Tweets
History of the Story
The Story existed long before the Word!
The workshop traces the Story's evolution from cave paintings, rock art and friezes as forms of communication to iconography like the Egyptian hieroglyphics; from oral storytelling with wandering bards and minstrels to orated Epics and Mythology such as The Arabian Nights and Vikram aur Vetal; from written epics like Beowulf to exploring why animal were popular in folks and fables; from fantasy and evil in Grimm to the story's journey through media such as printed books, silent movies, radio, television, cinema to 6 word story contests on Twitter today!
With each story timeline, the workshop will weave together history, myth, culture, featuring storytelling for that period with related writing, art and performance activities.
