LCS COVID-19 Updates
Please click on the following link to read the LCS COVID-19 Update that was sent to LCS families on 2/22/22.
Effective February 25, 2022, the CDC is exercising its enforcement discretion to not require that individuals wear masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems, including early care and education/child care programs. This updated order, from the CDC, is making this change to align with updated guidance that no longer recommends universal indoor mask wearing in K-12 and early education settings in areas with a low or medium COVID-19 Community Level.
Along with the GCHD School Guidance updates, and the updated order from the CDC to not require face masks on school provided transportation, the CDC updated their COVID-19 Community Level Metrics, placing Genesee County in "LOW" status.

2012 Refunding Bonds Refinanced
On January 27, 2022, the bond sale for the 2022 Refunding Bonds (the “2022 Bonds”) was completed. The 2022 Bonds are being issued to refinance the callable portion of the District’s outstanding 2012 Refunding Bonds. We are very pleased with the result and excited to share the below information with you.
As a part of the bond sale process, the Linden Community Schools (the “District”) bond rating was reviewed by S&P Global Ratings bond rating agency. Good news was received as the District received the strong bond rating of A+. This is a compliment to the District’s financial/management practices. The 2022 Bonds also received a bond rating of AA for participation in the Michigan School Bond Qualification and Loan Program.
A total of 5 bids were received for the 2022 Bonds. Huntington Securities, Inc. was the winning bidder by providing the lowest Truest Interest Cost (“TIC”) of 1.721174%. The prior 2012 Refunding Bonds had interest rates of 3.125 – 3.250%. The 2022 Bonds achieved yields ranging from 0.80% to 1.68%. This resulted in a total gross savings of $388,760.42 for district taxpayers.

"Snow Day"...To Call off School or Not?
The process, when making the decision to cancel school for weather conditions, is ongoing. Linden Schools is in constant contact with other local districts, the Genesee County Road Commission, our transportation department, local police departments, and we have individuals driving roads to help determine the conditions. Again, there is no exact science to making this decision. Student safety is our main concern.
