Letter from Dr. Schwarting - Outgoing Desert Mountain School Principal
As you know, over the next few weeks, I will be wrapping up my time as principal of Desert Mountain School in preparation to take the reins as principal of Inspiration Mountain School. This is a very sad time for me as I've loved serving this community, the students, and staff for many years. We have enjoyed tremendous cultural and academic achievements, and I believe that trend will continue under the leadership of Mrs. Molly Gillett.
Speaking of leadership and growth, we strive to teach our students to be perpetual learners. It is a message I often communicate to the staff as well. We must seek new opportunities to learn and grow our professional skills so that we can better serve ourselves and our communities. That said, there are several staff members that have also accepted new opportunities to grow and learn. It is not uncommon in education to see such movement; typically in cycles of six to seven years. And while change can be uncomfortable, it also brings about the opportunity for discovery and advancement. As I have met many of the new staff members, I believe they will give Desert Mountain an infusion of energy and growth, as well as a new vision to move the school forward. I also know the new staff members are excited to continue to nurture the strong partnership with the Desert Mountain community.
Thank you for making my time here the best I've experienced in the 17 years of serving as an educator. Your children have brought me such joy, and my heart is filled with gratitude that you were willing to partner with me and the Desert Mountain staff to provide your children with the best opportunity to learn and achieve socially and academically.
I wish you all the very best in the years to come.
Kind regards,
Dr. JoAnn Schwarting
