Message from the Principal
D.W. Daniel High School,
Happy New Year and welcome to the second semester! As we turn the page to the always busy second half to the school year, it is amazing to consider how much your kids have grown. Not only are your students taller, but they are likely greater in learning, and maybe even maturity. What an amazing time and place where growth is all around us! Some of your kids now know Spanish, algebra, or maybe even chemistry. I have challenged your students to take the opportunity to learn from their journeys. We are, without a doubt, stronger and smarter today than we were on August 1st.
The new year brings exciting opportunities to get smarter. For the past 18 months, school- and district-faculty members have been studying how to better Serve EACH Student. The result is the implementation of the research-proven best practice of the Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS), which at Daniel High School is known as LionTime. Teachers will be meeting in teams to analyze data to determine if students need additional help or if they could learn even more. LionTime will give the school the time to offer sessions designed to answer those needs. In addition, our busy students may also have a chance to complete schoolwork or find a club that excites a passion. We are very excited for the work we will be doing together!
Serve EACH Student; Take Care of People!
