Holly Academy has a stellar reputation in Southeast Michigan for our rigorous academics and our commitment to 'growing scholars'. After the last report card marking, middle school students with all As and Bs, as well as 1s and 2s in citizenship, were invited to apply for the National Junior Honor Society. We had 43 students eligible to apply, resulting in 27 students turning in applications. The application process is quite arduous; students fill out application requirements related to leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement, as well as writing a short essay. Each student application is then numbered with names removed, and our Faculty Council works together using NJHS criteria to review each application. The total number of points determines if an application is accepted. After extensive review, 16 applications were accepted. These 16 students will be inducted into NJHS on the evening of March 16th. We are so proud of all the students who applied! Thank you to Mrs. Conley and Mrs. Fitzpatrick for being NJHS co-advisors and our Faculty Council (anonymous) for their commitment to the selection process. Dare to be remarkable!

Stand Up to Bullying

If you ordered a Stand Up to Bullying shirt in September, you are aware that the vendor we use had a supply chain issue and was unable to fill our order. In their usual 'I'll help' fashion, Mrs. Cryderman and Mr. McKee stepped up to the plate! Mr. McKee replicated the Stand Up to Bullying logo, and Mrs. Cryderman ordered and pressed all the shirts to fulfill our commitment to our families. Mrs. Cryderman spent last weekend pressing the logo on 150 shirts! We are so grateful to both of these staff members for ensuring that a vendor issue wouldn't prevent our Huskies from receiving their shirts! Power of the Pack!

March is Reading Month Helpers

In normal Husky fashion, when we ask for help our families come through! Our buildings are fully decorated for our reading month theme, "Reading Takes You Out of This World" thanks to our creative helpers. A huge THANK YOU to Barb Bunker, Aimee Finney, Lauren Andrada, Lisa Crawford, and our own Tina Craven, for all the fabulous decorations around the buildings! Dare to be remarkable!

Husky Siblings

The "Power of our Pack" was truly evident Monday evening at our Meet & Greet. We had many siblings show their younger sisters or brothers around the Academy while highlighting their favorite things! Pictured is Miles Robertson (kindergarten) walking his sister Zoie into the Meet & Greet; what a poignant moment!. It's great to be a Husky!

Annual Education Report

Our Annual Education Report for the 2020-2021 school year can be found on our website. If you desire a hard copy, they are available in the office. We are so proud of our academic performance last year. Even in a pandemic, our Huskies outperformed the national norm! Dare to be remarkable!

March is Reading Month has officially ‘blasted off.’ Please continue to watch the calendar for the specific themed dress down days. Don’t forget to participate in our commercial video and poster contest! The due date to turn these in is March 7th. In addition, we are continuing our daily book drawing - congratulations to the students who have already won a book.

Continuing with our theme, the middle school staff has been busy ‘exploring’ elective offerings for the 22/23 school year. We are currently deep in the process of selecting a ‘big bang’ of electives for our middle school students. Teachers are creating courses based on their personal teaching endorsements and submitting to administration for approval. After spring break, 5th, 6th and 7th grade students will attend an assembly where teachers will present their elective courses; registration will occur the week after.

Lastly, please be sure to go to our website to check out the recent Husky Happenings video. You will get to see our Spelling Bee winners and runners up recognized for their ‘out of this world’ spelling skills.

Don’t forget - keep reading for at least 20 minutes every night!

Ski CLub

Thank you to the 40 families who participated in this year's Ski & Snowboard Club!

What a fun way to spend time together in the winter season. With spring on its way, the club is officially done. However, any student can still ski/snowboard for $25. Just show the club card at the ticket window. This includes weekend sessions! I hope everyone takes advantage of this and hits the slopes one more time!
