Please Stop Laughing at Me

By Jodee Blanco

Jodee Blanco was a little girl in a roman catholic writing school who didn't have a lot of friends. She wanted to be in with the "Cool Kids" at her school but she could only make friends with the unpopular kids and the special needs kids. Once she made friends she was invited to a party and hated it because she saw what the kids were doing there and ratted them out. After that everyone hated her. Later that year she switched schools and moved here whole house. Once she met the new kids on the block she thought she was in heaven. But later she started sticking up for kids she shouldn't have and sooner or later nobody liked her and she had no friends going through high school and wasn't developing correctly. She got bullied nonstop day after day and didn't even talk to her parents. Later in high school she met some new friends who were going through the same thing she was. They made friends, she got corrected, and got a new car. Everything was going great until the last day of school when someone wrote something horrible inside her yearbook which ruined the next couple years for her. But she went to New York State Collage and wrote 2 best selling books and worked with numerous celebrities since she got to the reunion and met all her old bullies and she suspected them to be mean but the were all apologetic and nice to Jodee. That's a summary of Please Stop Laughing at Me.

Jodee Blanco

She is the speaker of the story. And in the story she has been victimized of bullying in three different schools. The result of bully has led her to be a stronger person later in her life. She was always nervous and never liked to talk to anyone, not even her parents.

The conflict in the book is character vs character and character vs self. What a desperate, pathetic fool I was. "Time after time, my "friends" had shown me their true colors. Yet, I still wanted to believe they were sorry for causing me pain." p. 128

Doing what you want to do is key to being happy and living your life to the fullest. Be who you are, not what someone else wants you to be.

Textual Evidence

The one quote that really jumps off the page to me is "I want to kill them like they're killing me." p. 164. I thought this was the most meaningful quote because the quote really shows other people how bad bullying really affects people and how much it makes them want to hurt other people

Book Review

I would give this book a 4.5 out of 5. I think the book deserves this because the book was amazing. I loved this book because the book kept making me want to read more and seeing what happened next. This book was well written and was amazing overall
