CYCLE DAYS
CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY MONTH
During the month of February, our students and staff will celebrate Black History Month with a greater focus on cultural awareness and responsiveness beyond what we practice daily at EV. Each week during the month of February, the Weekly WOW will highlight resources, lessons, and activities that feature the work we do at EV to strengthen our cultural awareness and responsiveness, including racial identity, racial awareness, and the history of our Black Americans.
Many thanks to Mrs. Laubenstein, fourth-grade teacher, and our Cultural Awareness Committee for coordinating Black History Month messages, lessons, and activities.

REMINDER: SAFE AND CARING ENVIRONMENT - HALLWAY EXPECTATIONS
What a difference! Our hallways have never looked and sounded better!
Why do we expect quiet voices and straight, organized lines in our hallways? Because unlike a middle or high school model, our students "change classes" or transition during times when other students are learning. We need to respect others and stay safe.
Clear consequences for students who do not follow hallway expectations:
We continue to work explicitly on hallway expectations this week. Any individual student who needs reteaching of hallway expectations will join "Hallway Class." The "Hallway Class" will take place on Tuesday and on Thursday this week from dismissal to 4:00 with Ms. Seeley. Parents/guardians will be notified from a teacher that your child will need to stay at school for an after-school detention to attend "Hallway Class" and you'll need to arrange for on-time pick-up at 4:00.
*Each week, there will be at least one after-school detention scheduled, and it will be advertised in the Weekly WOW.

REMEMBER TO PURCHASE YOUR YEARBOOK FOR 2019-2020
There's still time to order an EV Yearbook. Visit https://www.balfour.com/student-info?smi=64844
There is also a Yearbook page in PTBoard with the same link and additional information and informaiton on the EV PTA Facebook page (and shared on the EV School Facebook page).
A NOTE FROM OUR CREATIVE CATS PUBLISHING CENTER
Parent volunteers work with the students to create bound pieces of writing for them to take home. Parent volunteers will help with editing, type books, as well as assemble them. These become treasured keepsakes, but an even bigger benefit is this is an amazing opportunity to work with the teachers to encourage excitement for writing.
This year we will be tweaking the process, in order to use volunteer time most effectively as well as to best support the students.
We are actively seeking volunteers who can commit to a consistent 1-2 hours of work a month. Due to the nature of the work, it is important that you are “trained” in creating books, so please expect a training session, however other than that much of the work can be done either at home or at school and on your schedule. We are looking to begin receiving writing in early December and will stay open to new writing through the end of April, wrapping up our publishing before the end of the school year.
Please email evcatpub@gmail.com if you are interested in joining Creative Cats Publishing Center’s volunteer squad!
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
MRS. GABORIAULT, PARAPROFESSIONAL
Hello! My name is Elizabeth (Beth) Gaboriault. Some call me Mrs. G. I joined East Vincent Elementary as a Paraprofessional in October 2019. Prior to coming to EVES, I graduated from Gwynedd-Mercy College with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. My career path has included Massage Therapist, Office Administrator, and Design Coordinator for a custom builder, until I met and married my husband, Gary, 15 years ago. Since then, I have worked with my husband in our commercial and residential construction businesses as Office Manager, with a little farming on the side, and medical transcription. I was fortunate to be able to work from home and help raise our three sons, Tristan, Declan, and Logan. Tristan is in 8th grade at the middle school and is on the Lego Robotics Team. Declan is in 6th grade at EVES and enjoys playing baseball for Kimberton Little League. Logan is in 5th grade at EVES and enjoys playing football for the Coventry Wildcats. All three of my boys participate in Scouts and enjoy many scouting events throughout the year. As a family we enjoy camping, sporting events, and spending time with our extended family and friends. In my free time I enjoy running, reading, sewing, and photography. It is a privilege to work at EVES and I look forward to working with all of the wonderful students and staff in our growing community. Go CATS!
EV SCIENCE FAIR WINNERS
On January 23, students from 5th and 6th grades presented their science research projects to a panel of judges. The judges were seniors from the high school who are members of the Science National Honor Society. The judges were impressed with our EV scientists' experimental methods and attention to detail to assure fair and accurate testing. The students who have been invited to advance to the Chester County Science Research Competition are
Tyler Rodriguez
Dylan Klotz
Clara Wilson
Sophia Shea
Lily Barner
Jonathan Alex
Addison Hartman
Ethan Townsley
PMEA BAND FEST MUSICIANS
Last Friday, three of our EV band students participated in the Chester County 5/6 Intermediate Band Fest at Octorara High School. The students did a tremendous job and represented EV and OJR well!
Please congratulate Patrick Pomager, Clara Wilson, and Erin Bolger when you see them!
