What They Do
A Watershed, also known as a drainage basin is an area of land that is drained by a water system. River systems are divided by watersheds. The Mississippi River has the largest watershed in the U.S. Hundreds of tributaries from the Rocky and Appalachian Mountains extend into the Mississippi River.
