The Cub Connection
Last Days of Summer
Letter from Mr. Shields
Dear Cub Nation,
As summer begins to wind down I want to welcome each of you back to school for the 2023 - 24 school year! I hope you are having an amazing summer full of fun family activities, rest, and quality time. I am so excited to join this amazing learning community, and I look forward to working with each of you and your children as they return to school. I truly appreciate the warm welcome that has been extended to me as I begin to serve the Clark family as principal.
In just a few short weeks, our currently quiet hallways and classrooms will be bustling with energy and voices of students who are excited, anxious, and ready for a new year. I am sure they are ready to meet their new teachers and reunite with their friends. We are actively working on placement and teacher announcement videos will be sent via email on August 4th.
This year our school’s theme will be “Mission: It's Possible.” As I’ve thought about each of your children, I know it is our common desire to have each child reach their highest potential. It is our goal as a Clark staff to ensure your child's safety, that they are engaged in dynamic learning experiences, and they are valued and loved when they enter our doors. I am confident that the faculty and staff here at Clark are committed to being our very best so that together we can accomplish great things.
I want to encourage you to keep up with all the amazing things happening at Clark, including the following:
- The Cub Connection - The campus newsletters that will be issued twice per month to families.
- The PTO Newsletter - Issued once per month and will be linked to The Cub Connection
- Cub Web Series - Short monthly videos exploring pertinent topics at Clark.
- Follow us on Social Media - Facebook or Twitter.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email or call. I look forward to getting to know you this year!
Best Regards,
Ken Shields
Proud Principal of Clark Intermediate

Transportation Information
Things to keep in mind -
- CISD does not offer transportation to students who live less than a mile from the campus.
- Parents or guardians must submit an Alternate Stop Request Form each school year for service to an alternate stop. Students who are not eligible for transportation services may not be allowed to request or utilize an alternate stop. Parents can request an alternate stop when you register your child for transportation.
- Transportation cannot change addresses for students. Please contact our PEIMS Clerk, Mrs. Lawless (adlawless@conroisd.net) for address changes or corrections. Once the address change has been made, it takes about 48 hours for Transportation to process the change.
SMART Tags
6th Grade students will continue to use their SMART tag badges that were issued during the 2022-2023 school year to load and unload buses.
5th Grade students and students transitioning to new campuses will receive a new badge. These badges will be distributed once the school year begins. CISD will only supply the ID cards as students are expected to use their lanyard and plastic sleeve from the previous year. Students in intermediate school are not required to wear the badge all day, however, they should be connected to the backpack for access on the bus.
