In Case You Missed It:
With Jamie's departure left an important opening in our school family. I am pleased and grateful to have Joanna Perkins join our Admin Team. Joanna has taught middle and high school, was the AVID Elective Teacher at Southern Lee High School, been our LCS Teacher of the Year, a Language Arts, New Teacher, and MTSS coach, and AVID director for our district. She completed her doctorate last year doing her dissertation on teacher burn out and how administrators can support them to keep this from occurring. Dr Perkins, who doesn't care if you call her doctor, lives in Seven Lakes with her husband Stanley and five year old son, Nolan. I think you will find her approachable, helpful, and LOVES teachers and kids. She is excited to be a daily part of our school family. Joanna will be taking over the day-to-day operations on 6th grade, 6th and 8th N-Z discipline, Culture Team, and buses. As always, Evan and I will support her as she learns and I ask that you all do this as well.
Suzanne's Rurkowski's last day will be Thursday of this week. Make sure to stop by the gym and wish her well on her new chapter.
We will welcome our newest Health/PE teacher on Friday. Her name is Jordan Burch. Jordan did visit on Thursday and Friday of last week. She has taught at the elementary and middle school levels in FL and Cumberland Co. She is returning to teaching after taking a break and having her children, twin girls and a son. Please make sure to stop by to introduce yourself and welcome her to the family.
We are now fully staffed! Simone Ross joined our team in the cafeteria last week. If you haven't met her, yet, make sure reach out this week.
Congratulations to Yanira Scott! She has announced there will be a new addition to their family in August. This makes 6 new baby Stallions due in the spring and summer of 2019. WoW! I don't think I will be drinking from our water fountains anytime soon ;0).
If you haven't done so already, mid-year PDP's were supposed to be completed by Friday. Mentors should sign off by Monday.
I just want to take a minute to tell you how proud I am to work with such amazing people. I heard and witnessed multiple occasions just last week of support for others and random acts of kindness in our school family. It is so much easier to close your door, keep your head down, and just teach. It is much better to get to know the people in our school, help when others need you (even if you're not asked), and take time laugh, cry, and celebrate together. THIS is US!
Don't forget to bring all your teacher devises to school and have them on your desk so Shannon Johnson can scan them into inventory.
If you got a new phone or phone number recently or are new to our staff and are not getting the Remind texts from me/Admin, click here to rejoin.
