Peek At The Week!
Week of 10/28/19
Principal's Message...
Tomorrow morning, 10/28, we will attempt to have our first evacuation drill for the 2019-20 SY. It will begin with a fire drill and then evolve into an evacuation drill. Please be sure to review all drill procedures/expectations with students. South Kingstown Police Department will be present to support our drill. We are planning to begin around 9:30am.
This week, I have blocked my schedule to be in all lunches, except on Tuesday, which is team day. My goal will be to observe current routines/practices, in order to strengthen them. Please reach out if you have any input to share about how to make lunchtime more enjoyable for all.
Last week, I was able to visit a few classrooms and observe some amazing lessons. The academic vocabulary I saw being used was impressive! If you have a particular lesson you would like to see, please reach out. I would love to put it in my calendar and stop by!
Tomorrow, we will be receiving the support of a Behavior Analyst from Momentum Inc. to help with some of the behavior challenges we are experiencing in particular classrooms. Her name is Marissa and she will be in the building everyday, from 8:30-3:30pm. She has a direct supervisor from Momentum, Liz Janick, who will be assisting from time to time, as well.
As you know, RICAS data has been released. You can see assessment results here: https://www.ride.ri.gov/InstructionAssessment/Assessment/AssessmentResults.aspx In the upcoming weeks, we will be doing a data dive into the results. More to come.
Finally, Halloween will bring a lot of exciting energy into the building on Thursday and the sugar rush/crash for some students on Friday may also make for a tricky day. Please remind students that candy should not be brought to school or shared with students. I am sure the 1st of November will be a TGIF kind of day!
Wishing everyone a great week!
~Kim
