CAN I GET A SHOUT OUT?
The following e-mail below was sent to Mrs. Skaggs this week! The e-mail speaks to what we have created at Summit with our Mod/Cog program, Leadership Teachers and Students, and the climate of our school. #WEARESUMMIT #weembrace #weinclude
Thank you Cathy, Kim, Maralee, Daesha, Speech Paths, Psych, and Elective Teachers! You totally are making this a reality at Summit!
"Last night at church, a kid named Joshua was saying hi to Kam in the hall. He told me he is in Mrs. Prentice’s class with her…such a cool young man, too. Not long after that, a really tall boy (had to have been 8th grader) was talking to Kinley in the hall. Kam said he is in leadership. It’s so much fun seeing these young ones out in the community initiating conversations with the girls (no prompting, not doing it because I was standing there, etc)."
Have a great day!

Summarization & Generalization Teacher Strategy
Please click on the link below, as it has Marzano's Academic Vocabulary List by Content Area and by Grade Level. Take a glance at the words for the surrounding grade levels, as it is a great strategy to incorporate words which should already be known, and words that students will need to be successful in the future.
????How are you EXPLICTLY TEACHING the words in your class?
????Do you have a PROGRESSIVE WORD WALL?
????Is the language of the teacher and the student ENRICHED WITH ACADEMIC VOCABULARY during the classperiod?
????Are you including VOCABULARY QUIZZES in you assessment planning for students?
????When there is a writing prompt or GIST to explain a concept, has there been a RUBRIC CREATE to provide points for ACADEMIC VOCABULARY WORDS?
These are suggestions to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom.
If you have other ideas of how to utilize the vocabulary words in your classroom, please share!

Preliminary A-F School Report Card 2016
There are 10 days from yesterday where we can sift through the accuracy of the data and make any appeals necessary for correction.
If the report card is accurate, it will be the first time since the A-F Report Card started in Oklahoma, Summit is an A-, but it's still an A!!!
Congratulations! #WEARESUMMIT!
