This week we had a really cool visit from Elle of the Southwest Dairy Farmers. Elle is a 4 year old (54 in cow years) dairy cow. Students learned all about taking care of cows and how to milk a cow and all the different processes milk goes through before it goes to the store. We all felt blessed that the field trip came to us this year.

Support the Elementary School on Nov. 20, 2020

As you head off for Thanksgiving Break why not fill-up on some yummy food provided by the elementary classrooms. It will hit the spot whether you're just heading home or have plans for alternate destinations. All food will have been prepared with safe food handling practices.

Movie Night Cancelled

We are sad to announce the cancelation of our KAES Movie Night. It seems that cases of Covid-19 are on the rise in our local area. As much as we want to provide a safe experience for our families to connect it is clear coming together at this time would provide an unnecessary opportunity to spread the virus. We hope to provide other fun events and experiences when things are better.

Don't forget we are collecting cans and dried food for the Keene Church Food Bank.

Our boxes for the Keene Food Bank are pretty much still empty. Please consider supporting our food drive. Cans or dry boxes of food can be placed in the boxes by the entrance doors.

In Service

I want to thank the students in 7th and 8th grade who rallied and volunteered to put up all the flags in Keene this week for Veterans Day. This was an unplanned event and when the city needed help our students jumped right in to help. Our kids are amazing disciples!

Goodbye Ole Red!

Have you been watching the progress on the gym? The red steel is slowly going away as the gym takes the next step and gets its base coat of paint in preparation for the roof and walls to go on.

You're Invited to Join the Keene Adventurer Club

The Adventurers program is designed to support parents in assisting children with the challenging task of developing fully as followers of Christ in today's world. The mission of the Adventurer Club ministry is to serve an intercultural community of children from preschool through fourth grade and their parents or guardians and assist Adventurer families in growing as followers of Jesus. The Keene Stars Adventurers Club registration is still open so come and bring your children to our next meeting on November 18th at the Keene church fellowship room or contact the club director at 319-491-2939 for more information. All are invited.

Together we stand

We have had a number of students come back and join us in class after completing their 14 day quarantine, and we have had a few more go online for close contact quarantine. I know two weeks is a long time however we all need to rely on each other to follow guidelines when we come into close contact or feel symptomatic. I feel confident accountability is the only way we will be able to keep our school open. Thank you for all each of you are doing!

We have listed the lunch menu for the entire month of November. In addition, you are now able to order ahead of time for the entire month. There is a separate lunch order link available for each week of the month. All weekly links are available on the menu at and each individual week will be shared in the newsletter. It is our hope that this will provide an easier way for you to keep track of lunches purchased.

You can edit your order at any time. If you need to make a change to your order, please do it through the confirmation email you receive from your order. This will help us not to double order for your child.
