Dear KRS Families,

We are looking forward to seeing you at parent/teacher conferences on April 3rd and April 4th, with both days as 12:45 PM early dismissal days. Please visit the Madison Education Foundation table in the KRS lobby during conference times.


The Scholastic book fair truck arrived at KRS early this week and delivered many wonderful books. The KRS book fair will be held during Monday and Tuesday of next week. Thank you to the fantastic PTO parent volunteers for coordinating and working at the book fair!


All Madison schools are closed on Friday, April 7, 2023. Have a wonderful weekend!

Do you know a classroom teacher or educational services professional who is dedicated, inspiring, and making a difference? If so, please take the time to submit a nomination for each recognition. You may nominate a classroom teacher and an educational services professional. Staff members and parents are encouraged to participate.

Please submit this form by April 17, 2023.


Educators of the year will be announced on May 5, 2023.


Each candidate will be scored based on the criteria below:


-Serves as an exceptionally skilled and dedicated educator or services professional.

-Inspires students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn.

-Demonstrates leadership and innovation in and outside the classroom.

-Has the respect and admiration of students, parents, administrators and colleagues.

-Plays an active role in the community as well as the school.

I had the honor of presenting with TJS principal Ms. ILeana Garcia at the NJASA/ERF and NJPSA/FEA 6th Annual Women's Leadership Conference this week. Our presentation topic was on ageism, with a focus on a global report on ageism developed by the World Health Organization, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights,, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, and the United Nations Population Fund.

Fifth Grade Families - Save the Date!

The KRS Class of 2023 celebration ceremony is scheduled for June 9, 2023 at 9:30 AM.

Music Teacher Returns

On Monday, April 3, 2023, Mrs. Donna McEachern will be returning from maternity leave to resume her role as the music teacher at KRS and TJS. Thank you so much to substitute Ms. Rachel Montagna for serving as the music teacher and making music engaging and fun for the students. Ms. Montagna will continue to co-direct the musical. Welcome back Mrs. McEachern and thank you to Ms. Montagna!

KRS Reading Night - April 18, 2023 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

All KRS families are invited to attend the KRS Reading Night on April 18, 2023 from 6:30 - 7:30.

The KRS Art Show will also be held that evening beginning at 6 PM.

Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences

Spring Parent/Teacher conferences are on Monday (Night) and Tuesday (Afternoon), April 3rd & April 4th.


Your child's teacher will be in touch about a date and time for your conference.


Parent/Teacher conferences are opportunities for parents and teachers to meet together to discuss student progress and strengthen partnerships. Please see this link for an article about effective parent/teacher conferences.

Madison Music & Arts' 33rd Annual Dessert & Jazz Fundraiser

Registration is now open for Madison Music & Arts' 33rd Annual Dessert & Jazz fundraiser to benefit the visual and performing arts in Madison! This family-friendly event features a cabaret of talented MHS students followed by performances from the MHS Chamber Strings, MHS Jazz Chorus, MJS Jazz Band, and MHS Jazz Ensemble. Dessert will be provided.
