Meet the Teacher
Mrs. Anita L. Wingler :)
I am also the music teacher for the students at North Wilkesboro Elementary and Boomer-Ferguson Elementary and have taught at almost every elementary school in the county over the years (but Wilkesboro has always been HOME!) In the past I've even taught a large majority of our staff and parents. I might be old but I still got it :)
About My Education...
I've been singing all my life. In fact I don't even remember my musical debut. I was just too young. Singing in church with my family was a great confidence booster and brought my family closer. If you've never sang together as a family, I highly recommend it!
I started taking private piano lessons in the 4th grade and was strongly encouraged by my family (but never forced) to practice, practice, practice. I always seemed to "need to practice" when it was time to do the dishes:) I still have so much to learn but music has been and will always be my #1 emotional outlet and has helped me and my family stay sane through this pandemic.
UNC-Greensboro is where I received my Music Education training. The first time I observed an Elementary Music Education class in college I was hooked. After hearing the students angelic singing I realized that I wanted to experience this the rest of my life! I knew I had found my calling and place in life. Teaching music at the elementary level IS my passion and brings me tremendous joy. I can't wait to share this joy and to begin making MUSIC together. See you soon!
About My Family...
My oldest daughter, Caitlin, has begun her 1st year of medical school at Wake Forest School of Medicine and strives to one day serve as a doctor here in Wilkes Co. She graduated from Appalachian State University (Go APPS!) and played the clarinet in the pep and marching bands all 4 years and has taught herself to play piano and ukulele.
My youngest daughter, Kaleigh, recently graduated from Appalachian State University and played the piccolo (that's a baby flute) in the pep and marching bands and has also taught herself to play piano and ukulele. When she was in elementary school she told one of her teachers that she was a better musician than me, LOL! She was correct! Following in her sister's and nana's footsteps she is currently working as a CNA at a local nursing facility as she diligently applies to medical schools.
We also have 3 of the cutest dogs in the world, Daisy, Finn and Mikki. They are Brittanys and enjoy hanging out at home and going bird hunting with my husband. Giving wet kisses, lounging on the couch and chasing after squirrels are some of their favorite activities.
As a family we enjoy listening to all kinds of music together as a family. The band U2 is our absolute favorite. We also love to travel and hope to visit Ireland over Christmas break if it is safe to do so.
I can't wait to EXPLORE music with your children this school year. Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns

About this Year
by playing a variety of instruments, learning and moving to songs from diverse cultures and just having some good old FUN!
Music should be a joyful outlet for creativity and emotional well-being. I want my students to always leave my classroom feeling better than we they arrived. As adults I hope the essential
musical skills learned in my classroom will make them comfortable participating in everyday musical activities and always use music as a tool to overcome life's multiple obstacles.
