ROE Kindergarten - Oct. 21-25

A New Journey Begins!

Fall treat bags

Each season, we make goodie bags for the students to take home. We will be sending Fall Treat Bags home on Oct. 31st. We will need all treats for the bags by Oct. 28th. This will give us enough time to make the bags. Examples: stamps, pencils, candy, individually wrapped treat (fruit snacks, rice crispy treats, cookies) or little note pads.

Your child's teacher will send out a reminder with how many students are in the class. You can purchase a package of something and we will distribute it in the bags. No need to buy 17/18 different items...that is too expensive.

Big picture

Upcoming events

October 30 - Kindergarten 50th day of school! (Your child may dress in 50's attire for the day - rolled up jeans, poodle skirts, white shirts with the sleeves rolled up!)

October 31- Storybook Character Dress Up Day (be watching for more information)/ Fall Treat Bags

Focus this week

ELAR - We will identify and use words that name actions; directions; positions; sequences; categories such as colors, shapes, and textures; and locations, using letter-sound relationships to decode, including VC, CVC, CCVC and CVCC words, and develop drafts in oral, pictorial, or written form by organizing ideas.

Math- We will continue doing addition and subtraction. We will also start to focus on numbers 6-10.

Science - We will describe the location of objects using positional words.

Social Studies- We will be able to place events in chronological order and using vocabulary related to time and chronology, including before, after, next, first, and last.

Guided reading books

We are so excited to have started reading groups during our morning lesson time. Your child will be bringing home 1-2 books to read nightly. This is also a great time to work on sight words. Please make sure that your child returns their books each day. This way they have their book to read at reading group time. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
