Independent Reading Goals
Help your student reach their 1st Quarter Goal!
Individualized Independent Reading Goals
- Independent reading is the reading your student does outside of the classroom
- Independent reading books, are books students choose for themselves.
- Every student at Marshall Middle has an individualized Independent Reading Goal for each quarter
- Every quarter I work with students and together we choose their Independent Reading Goal, which is measured in Accelerated Reader points
- Successful students are those who strive to earn 100% or more of their Independent Reading Goal each quarter
- Example: Nina Hilling has an Independent Reading Goal of 40 points, she earns 38 points38/40 = 95% is her Independent Reading Grade.
- Individualized goals reward the dedication of EVERY reader!
- Students are free to choose and read any Middle Grade* or above book in order to reach their Independent Reading Goal each quarter
- Students can use AR bookfinder to identify the interest level of a book = MG (Middle Grade), MG+ or UG (Upper)
- Every book in my Library has an Interest Level of MG or higher
