Response to Intervention (RTI) at Work
Main Street Middle Schools commitment is to build the leadership capacity of its staff that includes cohorts of educators engaged in professional development to deepen skill sets and to build collective efficacy in each 1) Professional Learning Communities (PLC) and the alignment to RtI, 2) Constructing Meaning(CM), and 3) Positive Behaviors Interventions Systems (PBIS). These are the three major areas of focus for Soledad Unified School District journey to succeed for every student, every day.
To advance the understanding of the tight alignment of PLC and RtI the first cohort of educators from Main Street attend RtI at Work in Houston January 21-23. RtI has two defining characteristics and that is RtI is multitiered and systematic to address four outcomes. 1) All students must have essential grade-level curriculum with essential skills, knowledge and behaviors. 2) At the end of every unit of study, some students need additional time and support to master their essential-grade level curriculum. 3) Some student lack essential skills that they should have acquire in prior years, and these students require intensive interventions. 4) Some students require all three tiers to learn at high levels. The purpose of RtI is to ensure high levels of learning for every student.
