Benfield Family Newsletter

January 2, 2022

Greetings Benfield Families!

Happy New Year Benfield! As we prepare to return after the winter break, I am hopeful you had a healthy, relaxing time with your family.

Spirit of Giving

Thank you to all the families who donated toys and money towards Harvest for the Hungry. Benfield is a very giving community and your generosity is much appreciated.

Updates on COVID and Quarantine

CDC updated quarantining guidelines, and AACPS will continue to follow the CDC guidelines. Rather than the ten-day quarantine, students positive with COVID can return after five days (on day six), as long as they are symptom-free. As always, the onset of symptoms or a positive COVID test (which ever comes first) is day zero. The five-day count begins the next day. There is no test required to return.

Mr. Mosier sent a comprehensive message today, and you can find it here: AACPS Updates January 2, 2022.

Upcoming winter Concert

The concert is scheduled for January 13; however, several factors have come into play to make us consider changing the date. The music team and I will be meeting this week to make the decision to move forward with January 13th or change the date to later this month. We will keep you informed of our decision.

Bus Transportation

We continue to monitor the transportation website each day for late or cancelled buses. There are times in the afternoon where a late bus is not posted until after dismissal begins, so our communication is often at the last minute. We monitor this website and contact families asap. You can access the website here: Transportation.

Brightspace

By now you have heard of "Brightspace" the new platform adopted by Anne Arundel County. If you are interested in learning more, please click here: Brightspace for Families.
