Message from Dr. Connery
Greetings Simpson Parents,
It is my hope that you have received the communication from the district office regarding digital learning days and events for the next week. At this time, GCPS will participate in digital learning next week, March 16th-20th. On Thursday, March 19th, Gwinnett County Public Schools will announce its plans for March 23rd-27th, following a thorough review of the COVID-19 situation at that time.
Your children have had much practice using eCLASS and should be able to log on and get started on their own. Teachers will continue to create meaningful lessons and learning throughout the week while keeping in mind the restrictions some families may have. Teachers, administrators, and staff will be monitoring digital learning and will do our best to support our families. Should you have difficulty, please email you child’s teacher first.
At this time, Class Picture Day has been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later time. In addition, PTA Spirit Night at Marlow's Tavern has been canceled. All other activities connected to school have been canceled through March 20th. I will continue to keep you updated with school events and/or cancellations as new information becomes available.
As part of next week’s work schedule , GCPS School Nutrition staff and Transportation staff will coordinate to provide meals for students. GCPS will provide a lunch for anyone 18 or younger at 68 school sites in the district. Peachtree Elementary, Pinckneyville Middle, Norcross HS, and Paul Duke HS are some of these school sites. These lunches will be provided at no cost to students through the federal School Nutrition Program (during March 16th-20th). These sites will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for meal pick-up. In addition, GCPS school buses will make lunches available for pick up at bus stops near the 68 sites. Information about estimated delivery times at these bus stops will be shared on the GCPS website once they are finalized. These site schools for lunches will not be open to the public next week, except to give out packaged meals, but we will available at Simpson Elementary answering any questions you may have or support.
Finally, for any of our parents who utilize GASP for aftercare, they will be temporarily located at Pinckneyville Community Center, 4650 Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Berkeley Lake, GA 30096 from 7:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. M-F, next week while GCPS schools are closed. Please contact their organization for details prior to arrival next week. Please visit the Gwinnett County Public Schools website for the most up to date information. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you need assistance.
Thank you for your patience during this time as we strive to keep all of our families safe and healthy.
Proud to be your principal,
Dr. Connery

the 2020-2021 school year in the next month, as all board and committee head positions need to be approved at the last General PTA Meeting for this school year on Monday, April 27. Serving in one of these positions is a great way to have an impact on our school and its

A huge thank you to Heidi Laws Finnell and Michelle Reuter, our Staff Appreciation Week Co-Chairs, and the Staff Appreciation Week Committee for turning our school into a campground this week.
